Computer models show what the modeler chooses as their inputs and formulas.

With other words, Delta peaked there much earlier than expected.

And since the UK is in many ways a "model," a projection of things to come in US ( that's how it was so far,) then Delta might peak ( and fade away) in US much earlier than we expect.

I think they had a much higher vaccination rate.

Yes... fyi, the models up until just a few days ago had much lower levels of everything.

They are just pitches based on popular thinking.. not in anyway scientific.

Nobody's living in fear. It's simply about being responsible and getting kids vaccinated when that becomes available so people can move on and not keep the pandemic going on forever. So far, kids have been luckier than other age cohorts, but if new variants keep developing because unvaccinated people give the viruses more opportunities to mutate, this could change, so the better way to deal with it is to prevent that from happening.

Also, if their parents (who are at higher risk) die from COVID or become disabled because of it, then it trickles back down to them. Even if kids weren't vaccinated now, if a higher percentage of adults were, we would be in a better situation.

Amazing, how the Democrats wanted massive lockdowns when their a fraction of the number of cases but now since they are in control they want few restrictions.

Seems like now Joe Biden aggressive herd immunity strategy is President that the Democrats are just going to let COVID rip through the population.

This is article from last March when Trump wanted things opened again and when there were a fraction of the cases nationwide compared to yesterday.

Covid is already ripping through the population. Delta is already doing its thing.

Rumor is that Delta makes people sicker, quicker. People are still dying of Covid. On July 28th, reported Covid deaths - 491

Those who have been vaccinated can still get Covid, but they get a far lighter dose and rarely end up in the hospital or the morgue. The bad news is that their viral load is still high enough to infect others.

By getting vaccinated, they protect themselves. By wearing masks they are protecting the folks who refuse to get vaccinated or wear masks.

As well as the children, who others have noted rarely get very sick or die anyway, and those with compromised immune systems, such as the elderly and those in cancer treatment and so forth. But as others have noted, they aren't all that healthy to begin with, so are not likely to live long anyway.

Deep red Florida, led by republican idiot Ron Desantis, saw 21,000 new covid cases yesterday.

To put Florida's staggering number of 21,000 new cases into perspective, the entire country of France saw just 3,000 new cases yesterday. The entire country of Russia had only 8,000.

If you look at the stats not necessarily true. Florida is making up about 30% of our case numbers and most states remain relatively low for cases. I actually wonder if the Champlain Towers tragedy caused it by being a super spreader event.

You also have to understand that some states no longer report cases over the weekend so sometimes the cases from the weekend get reported during the week which can make one day seem higher.

The trend in the USA is that death's are up but only by 19% while cases are up 40%.

The original public health responses were to slow down the spread to give hospitals a chance to catch their breaths and hold on until the vaccines were developed.

Vaccines are here and though some hospitals report filling up with Covid patients, I've read nothing about them being overwhelmed.

Situation is different now.

Why should I have to wear a mask to protect those who don't care whether they live or die?
