Because the incubation period is 1-14 days with most in 5-7 days. The average recovery time is 2 weeks. And plants are closing for 2 weeks. So in 2-3 weeks, we'll know in a group like plant employees if many of those who already had it get it a second time.

I'm not calling for that at all, just saying it may be a lasting effect on the part of businesses unless there is intervention to prevent it. There is already age discrimination as companies prefer a younger healthier worker that they can push harder. That is only going to be amplified and backed up by another excuse.

Seniors would love to get out of the workforce earlier - if you pay them. Perhaps the trend in increasing retirement ages will reverse but that will be expensive. Or being unable to work due to being in a vulnerable group might be viewed as a disability but that may be just as expensive.

Here's a message for liberal Governor of Oregon Kate Brown.

Oregon doesn't give a flying f*ck about you. The only reason you stay in power is because of the liberal cesspool known as Portland and their metro area.

We are ready to reopen. Keep the trash you feel up north who you do not believe are ready or intelligent enough to monitor themselves locked up. Let the rest of the state return to normalcy.

Even liberal Cali and Washington are opening up. Get with the program you useless woman.

Really? Not sure what age you define as a senior but many people are not reading to retire at 60 or 65 or 70. Did you notice the ages of the people running for the Democratic nomination? Who is going to pay them? Receiving full Social Security at an earlier age is not going to cut it. What are you suggesting and how would it be paid for? We're currently not able to fund SS and Medicare.

What's stopping me? Panicked left wing extremists and their awful elected officials who want the economy to be closed for the foreseeable future.

an interesting exercise ...

65+ LFPR: 15%
% of those work FT: 56%
Weekly Wage: $605 in '07. Let's use $1,000

53MM people > 65. Times 15% = 8 million x 56% = 4.5MM. say you need to pay them for an average of 5 years.

4.5x5x52K = $1.2T. Now, you'd get to back out their SS. And not every one over 65 that was FT would need it.

The details on the Wuhan outbreak are concerning. Apparently the source is a elderly man who contracted COVID back in March and then "recovered". Now, two months later he is again symptomatic and has infected five more people in his complex. Chinese doctors say in some cases COVID can linger for 30 to 50 days and, in people with weakened immune systems, sort of smolder with bouts of symptoms followed by periods of normalcy.

There still seems to be a lot we don't know about this virus. And a vaccine is a long way off. Meanwhile Trump supporters claim it's not a bid deal and we should get back to business as usual immediately.

Not all of them. Duh. But many if not most seniors (let's say 60 or older) are frustrated and unhappy with the ever climbing FTA and would love to get out. At full benefits, of course. Power hungry politicians may be an exception. As for who is paying them, I think I indicated that would be a problem.

And I wasn't suggesting it. I had mentioned age discrimination will become an even greater issue in the future and was responding to a comment about "forcing" seniors to not work. My point was that you could induce not force. But lowering retirement age and reducing seniors from workforce could be one part of the solution to a society that needs fewer humans working.
