Masks work and after we have enough for all the hospitals and first responders, everyone should have them.
It should become societal norm that when you are sick you wear a mask (as in many Asian countries), and when news of a virus like this gets out, it should be standard for everyone to wear them.
here's the catch-22.
as long as the general public is not wearing a mask, the hospitals will keep getting flooded with patients.
We cannot wait for them to manufacture enough masks. We'll never get there.
Everyone needs to start wearing a t-shirt or multilayer cloth makeshift mask NOW in the meantime to contain the spread.
Everyone who is getting CV19 these days has been practicing social distancing, washing their hands, and they're wondering how the F they contracted it.
I love it. NeverTrumpers are all over the place with their "he ain't did nuthin'" accusations. He said this; he usta say that.... LOL
They ignore the fact that most of us are locked down because of Trump's recommendations. They also demonstrate their ignorance of how a federalist government works. They insist that - in this instance only - Trump should dictate policy to every governor.
Do they think states are satellites of the federal government, and that governors are mere administrators doing the bidding of a central command? ... Well, yes, they do.
But they are wrong.
It makes little sense to have different policies in adjoining states, same is also true of some cities having different rules within states. This is going to end up everywhere.
With likely a few thousand NJ LE already infected this is going to be a tough one.
In China and such places they can deputize others to do things....on a local or national level. At some point we might have people who have recovered have the power to arrest and/or at minimum ID and then fine (BIGLY) - enough to make people stop doing it.
I'd say a $500 fine with no one let off (no warnings) would do a world of good in many places.
In a free and open society, this is incredibly uncomfortable and feels very wrong. I'm certainly not one to downplay the virus, but I'm also an American. It's uncomfortable seeing people freedoms trampled for any reason.
Trump didn’t say that. And if he did he didn’t mean that. And if he did you didn’t understand it.
And anyhow it’s not a big deal, others have said worse..
Your word salad is almost as bad as Trump's word salad.

This is why people get so upset with Trump. Never says what he means and never means what he says. Why does he even bother talking?
He really should turn the task of communication over to, say perhaps a qualified press secretary? He does have a press secretary. What is she getting paid for, anyway?
Frankly, the only reason Americans aren't wearing masks everywhere they go is because there's a shortage and it's hard for Americans to adopt the culture of wearing medical masks out in public.
So, I'll tell you what - if you study this plot of the daily increase in cases, you can see what looks like a transition, from an exponential rise to a cresting, a concave to a convex surface. While things could still take off again if we screw up further, this would suggest at a minimum that mitigation measures are having some observable beneficial effect, at the national level.

Keep in mind that much of the country has extremely limited testing capability even now. Health care providers in my state were told to stop testing because there were no supplies and that it would not change the course of care anyway.
