Oh, an executive order! We'll revisit this shortly and we shall see who was in error here.

No longer will those with paychecks run roughshod over those forced to close their businesses.

He jailed her (refusing to commute her sentence) BECAUSE she refused to apologize and "admit she was selfish". Since when is that a crime?

Yes, she will be lauded as a conservative hero for intentionally breaking the law and refusing to acknowledge that breaking the law was wrong. Hence my comment about the hypocrisy of the law-and-order contingent.

not just apologize but grovel. he wanted to say she was selfish.

loved her response, it isn't selfish to feed your kids. it isn't selfish to put yourself in the line of fire so your employees feed their kids.

She was jailed for contempt of court and guess what? Judges have wide latitude as to what constitutes contempt.

Those “kids” she needs to feed so badly? One is an adult, and the other is from two husbands ago - why isn’t the child’s father or stepfather helping “feed” her?

This woman is stinking rich, they have an estate with exotic animals and got back from a cruise before this all hit.

She doesn’t work at all - she owns a salon and stylists work for her.

Of her 19 stylists only 2 wanted to come back and work - the others weren’t interested in breaking the law and jeopardizing safety.
She went to the media days before she opened to tell them she was opening. It’s all a huge stunt to rake in the donation dollars.

If she weren’t white and blond everyone would be calling for her head.

But jailing people for this? It increasing is coming across that some people in leadership roles are experiencing some excessive power trips around this, and that especially applies to those people who apparently are getting off on seeing people locked down. We all know who we are talking about here, right?

Jailing people for insisting on doing what they need to in order to feed their children is too much. I feel sad for anyone who does not see that. You can make the case that fining them or pulling their business license is too much, also. But this is the law in Texas and there has to be some way to enforce it. Jailing desperate people who are trying to feed their families is not it.

If Governor Abbott doesn't think she should be in jail for violating his executive order, then he should pardon her. Why blame the judge when the judge was only following the law? Didn't Abbott mean what he said when he described remedies against businesses that violated these orders in his press conference last week?

she didn't break the law.

she violated an order but that's vastly different. there is no law on the books in texas dealing with this situation.

the judge violated the law for exceeding the order by the governor.

furthermore the DA has stated as a condition of covid there will be no prosecution of theft below $750.

they are releasing criminals due to covid, but locking her up. she isn't a conservative hero. She is an American hero. left or right, liberty is liberty. Unless you are a progressive then the only liberty allowed is what the progressives say you can do.... covid or no covid.

So she’s a wealthy business owner who is white and married more than once who just went to jail for her employees.

Burn her! At the stake! Post haste!
