I think the issue is that the men who pursued the "jogger" ended up killing him, and those men had history with the police department and the legal system in that county. Their history with that legal system may have biased the system in their favor, and that is what many people find objectionable. We ALL want the criminal justice system to operate fairly and without bias. And the fact that it often doesn't is what causes the outrage.
If the neighborhood had many burglaries with black males and someone just saw a black male burglarizing/trespassing in a house under construction , a house right across from the shooters, (a former cop) who said he ID'd the guy from some recent video...and this incident was very recent within a few seconds...and he then ran away from said location...there is enough circumstances to believe he just commited a forcible felony (burglary)

The alternative, I guess, is the Walmart way. That's where employees stand there flat footed and watch people haul TVs out of their store right before their very eyes, because they're not authorized to stop the theft.
Thank God, most men in our communities aren't built like that, and refuse to sit there on their porches and watch burglars hit their neighborhoods over and over while they sit there on their cell phones dialing 911 for cops who won't come until the perp is long gone.
It's sad this ended this way, but I personally applaud the spirit of taking care of your own community and keeping it safe.
Exactly. People have a right to keep their community safe. They can confront a burglar. If the burglar attacks, they can defend themselves.
"In his presence, or within his immediate knowledge".
Sounds like it fits the bill to me, considering he witnessed the man in the vacant house.
Immediate knowledge means something that you know is happening, or has just occurred, it does not cover "that guy running might have committed those burglaries last week etc.." There is no "in the past" clause here. No crime here had been committed, so where's the immediacy? and was he an actual witness to this guy being in the house, or did he just see the guy running?
The Glynn County Police Department said Thursday that it had no reports involving burglaries or home break-ins in the Satilla Shores neighborhood between Jan. 1 and Feb. 23.*However, local media reported that one burglary, an automobile burglary, was reported to police in the Satilla Shores neighborhood during that time period.
