Time to get back to work.

When leftist fanatics get caught with their hands in the cookie jar, they often start attacking the adults who caught them, and lying and ranting hysterically like this.
That's great that you can nitpick certain provisions of the bill that you don't like and call the whole bill garbage.

The rest of the provisions within the bill is pretty OK. While I don't agree with stimulus checks going out to illegal immigrants and allowing corporate lobbying firms to receive PPP money, the rest is fine. I don't agree with the way Pelosi tackles rent/mortgage assistance - it's a bailout for the banks similar to 2008 vs. just giving people money to pay their housing expenses. But the rest of the provisions are fine.

Just because the bill mentions "cannabis" - doesn't mean it's bad. Where has people's critical thinking skills gone? Do you know WHAT does the bill EXACTLY do? Try reading the bill first before being MSNBC or Fox News sell-outs because they spin the story exactly as you say but that's not even the truth. The truth is what is in the bill.

Hindsight, do people even understand the gravity of the problem? Returning to work isn't solving this issue we have which is a literal collapse of the economy through deliberate policy decisions built up over the past couple decades. We have stopped a 22 trillion economy dead in it's tracks (of which 70% is made of is consumer spending = 15.4 Trillion), where we have limited safety nets, no financial plumbing to support small businesses and our citizens quickly, sketchy healthcare tied to everyone's jobs, wages that pay next to nothing where unemployment insurance makes it look silly, and a majority of Congress who keeps supporting keeping corporate America afloat and thinking tax cuts and bailouts for corporations will somehow help citizens (This applies to both parties, not just 1 party). News flash, it hasn't.

Now if you recall from basic macroeconomics that in the event of a downturn, government should deficit spend to make up for the lost GDP to prevent the destruction of the internal economic connections. You think 5-6 trillion total is enough to stop the bleeding let alone start the recovery and reform process? lol... get real. We can do what Hoover did and do nothing and we will be in a world of hurt for a decade or more, or otherwise, start reforming the system. You're living through the next Great Depression and it's time to own up to it and pass real reforms to fix America's structural deficiencies in the economic system. Not the right time to be ideologues.

what does that have to do with hungry people that have no money to buy food next week? So you want to hold up aid to these people while we debate the merits of marijuana?

Democrats’ $3T coronavirus bill has more mentions of cannabis than jobs
By Ebony Bowden and Steven NelsonMay 15, 2020 | 6:32pm

WASHINGTON — Democrats’ coronavirus efforts have gone to pot.

A behemoth 1,800-page, $3 trillion coronavirus relief package unveiled by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and doomed to go up in smoke in the Senate includes more than 68 references to the word “cannabis.”

The phrase “jobs” appears 52 times and the word “hire” just 17 times as the economy craters and a record 36 million Americans file for unemployment.

Republicans questioned the outsize focus on cannabis in the sprawling coronavirus bailout bill up for a House vote Friday.

The package also includes a second wave of $1,200 stimulus checks, $175 billion for housing assistance and a trillion dollars for state and local governments to pay for vital workers including police and nurses.

But the Democrat grab bag was met with a chorus of criticism from Republicans when it removed a working requirement for food stamps, omitted language restricting abortion funding, and added protections against deportation of illegal immigrants.
they have their priorities, apparently..

TRANSLATION: Damn, they caught us trying to jam useless pork into the bill, and now they aren't letting us get away with it. Time to ignore the fact that they said "Congress can do better", and just wail that they're somehow destroying the bill as if our pork hadn't already done that.

We're opening back up for business here.

The government can't just print free money forever.

The bill incorporates the proposed Safe Banking Act Bill which is intended to give legitimate marijuana businesses access to the banking system/ financial services. This is why cannabis appears so many times.

Marijuana, in one for or another, is legal in 33 states and DC, despite Federal Law continues to classify it as
A schedule 1 controlled substance. As I understand it, it is a mostly cash business because banks do not want to be an intermediary for a controlled substance. Despite this, dispensaries, mostly small businesses, are required to pay taxes on their profits, estimated at $ 5 billion/ year. These taxes are paid in cash which creates a challenge for the IRS.

I have no personal interest in marijuana. It is none of my business when other people do so long as they avoid driving.

Just saw there is a phased reopening plan for the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. This includes the Federal Social Distancing/ Gathering guidelines.

Funny how Republicans think it’s their divine right to expose others to a deadly virus yet people should be locked up for a plant because they don’t like the smell.
