It is the same size as the GOP porkulus bill earlier this year, where money was handed out even to people who had not been affected in an way.

Yea, it is really odd.
I had an argument with some rich ahole where he made all his money in the financial markets.
The government has spent trillions propping up the financial markets in the last 20 years which I pointed out to him.
He shrugged and said I am just playing the system.

Then when we got into handouts for the little people, his face turned red, he raised his fist and said that is Communism.
I just about wanted to dispatch him to hell.

It’s only evil communism / evil socialism if it helps the little guy!

If there's one simple thing we could do as a nation, legalizing marijuana dispensaries for recreational use would be toward the top of the list. Tax revenue, jobs - it's win-win, and a far better alternative to the package stores on every corner.

Agree. I'm hopeful that the government will see the money they're missing out on, especially now.

It's just a plant for god's sake.

TRANSLATION: Let's put an unrelated and irrelevant provision in the Pandemic Stimulus package, and see if we can tick off the adults enough that they protest it. Then we can pretend they "don't want to help people" or something, and bash them for that.

Then write and vote on a bill to do exactly that. It has little to nothing to do with COVID19. Get rid of ALL the superfluous crap and specifically help with the current problem.

I don't even want this newest bill to pass, and it won't.

What I'm saying is that I hope once some dust settles, finally the government will wake up and realize that there's tons of tax money to be had if they legalize weed. We're gonna need it.
