I appreciate law enforcement, a lot, but this particular story is very sad. Can't we attract more intelligent people into the trade? Might bump up taxes a few mills, but it would be money well spent.

For every looter out there there are parents, grandparents, spouses, and other family members who allow all that stolen property to be brought into their homes. They become a part of the criminality that destroys their own communities by remaining complicit.

Families with firm value systems intact don’t allow recidivist law breakers to continue living in their homes. They don’t allow stolen property to become a part of the family’s personal possessions. They don’t keep their front door open to that kind of trash.

Money isn't the issue though.
It's vetting candidates to be a Police officer mentally.
You are dealing with Human beings.
Some people aren't proficient in that capacity.
How many of us have Police officers as friends or in our family and have thought to ourselves "They are a Cop?"
I can't be the only one who has thought that.

Just keep in mind that the point we constantly do that these days is probably keeping the good people away from the job. Would you want to have a job where any decision you made could face the above? It was bad enough, back in the 80s, when they wrote letters to my Admiral, came into my station yelling my name.....but now with the Net, it is much, much worse.

If the good people aren't applying, then who do we get.......for a job that has to be done?
Govt Police are tasked with enforcing every law on the books, the unjust, immoral and shouldn't exist because there isn't a victim and they use whatever violence necessary all the way up to killing to do so.
Its not really a job for "good people"

What would an alternative truth look like?

It's not edited. Claiming inconvenient things are fake news, biased and/or conspiracies is the standard reply from certain factions. Typically such claims are utilized to defend Trump, but it seems it goes for other things too.

Thus all of a sudden turn from demanding police accountability to supporting heavy handed police tactics. In other words they were licking boots when “surfers” surfing alone or jogging alone get arrested the past month despite the activities being vaguely permitted.
