I bet Ford would feel some shame were he alive today for granting it posthumously.

What will happen?

The National Archives equals lies and propaganda now? I guess that's 'nuff said.

Things you value, history, institutions, education about the past, may be FORCIBLY taken away for very dubious reasons. And you many not have the means to address it because you voluntarily gave away your Free Speech and Self Defense Rights. Good luck with that.

Gave away free speech or wasted it on hollow rhetoric as you seem to do. The statue is not the history and its existence where it resides will not rewrite the Civil War, You better be careful or the measures taken to remove the native residents in your state may come under scrutiny next...

Well said. Free speech? Self defense rights? Crazy (and all too desperate to rationalize) talk. Saddest thing is, it was the one tribe that wholly bought into assimilation and living the white mans ways. Boom baby, round'em up and ship 'em to Oklahoma when the "noble" southerners decide they need the land.

Is that the best the Lost Cause can come up with? He's not technically a criminal?

Ever heard the term "condemning with faint praise"?

Let's call it what it is. Said persons can't refute the fact that Lee committed a crime. He committed treason. The Constitution says so. Some will say "he was never convicted". People have committed crimes and not been convicted. Lee was let off easy.

That still doesn't change that fact that he committed treason. Emmitt Till's killers, they were pardoned. It doesn't change the fact that they committed murder. Same goes for Lee. Getting a pardon doesn't change what he did. He committed treason. If the government had been smart, they would have sent him to prison or to the death penalty.

Posthumorously by Gerald Ford in 1975. Pretty sad.
