Passover is a religious holiday, like Christmas or Easter. Juneteenth is something else.
Passover is a holiday that celebrates the release of the Jews from slavery in Egypt. Juneteenth celebrates the release of African Americans from slavery in the US. Can you not see the parallel?
It should be “Thank a Republican Day” since it was the Republicans who fought the war to free the slaves and preserve the Union.
It shouldn't be politicized.
If you want to go that way, all the democrats from the 1860s are republicans today. New England was heavily republican and the deep south was democratic. You think they all just swapped houses over the past 140 years?

You believe that lie do you? I bet if you voted for Nazis they would tell you they were actually the good guys in history too. Don’t be a sucker.
I suppose it’s a valid reasons for a holiday, but How about a holiday for them to celebrate the fact of how much better off they are in America right now than their starving ancestors still living in Africa?
At some point in the future we’re going to run out of days and months for special days and holidays. Black history month, gay pride month, thanks your boss day, etc. It never ends
The intellectually dishonest will lie about it and say that they've known about Juneteenth since they started paying attention in history class. Actually I was only interested in history (early America and it's founding) when I reached my thirties. Having learned a lot since then about our nation I have come to appreciate it a lot more and realize how special it really is and how it should be preserved at all costs. Slavery was a terrible stain. And now lots of people want to come here for a better life. I think that speaks volumes about the resilience of the American dream.
Unfortunately slavery still exists but no one seems to care because it's not in their own backyard and we can only focus on wrongs of the past when wrongs of the present plague humanity daily.
