There is no reasonable explanation on why FEDERAL taxpayers should be on the hook. The City of Minneapolis taxpayers and State of Minnesota taxpayers should be on the hook to compensate businesses that had their businesses destroyed.

Living in Minneapolis you probably don't realize that the entire thing was shown live on the national cable channels. We saw the same thing you did. Minneapolis police were lined up, ready to turn back the protesters. Then the MPD melted away and the protesters became rioters, looters and arsonists. I saw it live on TV.

Right. And St. Paul has to go too. That whole "church and state" thing.

The police should not have disappeared. They should have stayed in place and stopped the protest from moving forward.

I always found it odd that so many police rank and file voted Republican, but the union was a heavy endorser/funder of Democrats

You’re referring to FoxNews? My experience of living through it in person is probably different than the coverage you saw. I think I will take real life over FoxNews in this case. I’m sure you’ll understand.
The MOB's started on May 25 - fast forward to July 2. Perhaps Walz was napping?
Walz asked President Donald Trump to declare a “major disaster” for the state of Minnesota in his request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on July 2.
The federal government has denied Gov. Tim Walz’s request for aid to help rebuild and repair Twin Cities structures that were damaged in the unrest following George Floyd’s death.
Many small businesses and grocery stores, pharmacies and post offices were damaged during the unrest. In his letter to FEMA, Walz said what happened in the Twin Cities after Floyd’s death was the second most destructive incident of civil unrest in U.S. history, after the 1992 riots in Los Angeles.
Of course in 1992 --- the Governor of California ASKED for not just the National Guard, but the US Military to help with the Riots. Of course there was no FEMA in 1992, but the real difference was that California acting pretty quickly and ASKED for help during the Riots .... Walsh and the City of Minneapolis wouldn't even allow the National Guard to arrest anyone or even carry weapons. They were mostly used to sweep up glass and guide fire trucks to the Fires the Rioters were setting.
Well Done Mr President .... they broke it, didn't want help, have defunded their police department and they don't deserve to be Bailed Out of problems they caused.
This is up to the Citizens - The actually VOTED for this, they can VOTE it out the same way they VOTED it in. Good Luck
The local paper is in the swamp as well. They paint it as though a weather event caused their plight.
The feds were ready, but got the call too late.
