So who wants to volunteer their children and grandchildren as sacrifice to Trump's demented vision of how to get the economy up and running before the election?
So you're going to put Millions of kids behind in education and condemn them to a life of poverty?

You going to force working parents to give up their incomes to stay home with their kids? Who puts food on their table?

There are millions of Black, Hispanic, White single Mothers. What will you do with their kids and how will they be educated?

Go ahead. Send your kids to school.

Fingers crossed they are not in the 14,000+.

Just because some parents either don't want to get involved in seeing that their kids are prepared for the future or are unable to provide any sort of reasonable guidance, does not mean this is the situation for all families.
What about all the millions of parents who don't speak English or have even an 8th grade education. You expect them to educate their kids?

You must live in a Lily white middle-upper class life.

You keep spouting that number. Provide a link or we don't believe you.

In all of CA there has been 1 or 2 kids die from the virus so far. More kids die of the flu.

More BS.

Children don't have to be in classrooms to learn. Thousands and thousands of children are homeschooled and do just fine in the world.

Your concern about the children of single mothers is touching.

Are you also advocating for increasing school funding?

What will you do with the children when their only caregiver dies or becomes incapacitated? Make the children all wards of the state?

This would hurt kids of color even harder. Schools is where they get fed and somewhat of an education and discipline.

Not everyone has the time or desire or ability to do what your Cousin did.
She didn't work just like my mother didn't work because they cared about their kids more then buying fancy cars and overly expensive homes. You can live without 2 incomes if you live within your means that's the problem with American's greed is out of control. When I was a kid we didn't live in the most expensive home we could barely afford. We didn't buy a new car every 3 years. My father worked on his own cars, and home we didn't at restaurants or take out every day we cooked at home.

When was the last time Trump and republicans cared about poor families. They only care about middle class voters who can't pay the big mortgage on their 3500 SQ home and angry at Trump.

This is the funny thing. Conservative groups have advocated and actively participated in homeschooling for years and years and years.

All of a sudden now the public school system is necessary for our kids to thrive. It is funny.

Here's the thing. Kids, parents, teachers, everyone wants things to go back to normal.

THey can't.

While the risk of kids (if you choose to use that argument) getting sick or dying is small -- the risk of them spreading the virus to teachers, family members that have a higher risk of getting sick or dying is BIG.

The whole point of everything right now is to slow the spread so we don't offer up sacrificial 'immune compromised' people so that some people can do what they want.

In some communities -- schools can safely open and still have a minimal risk of being a source of spread.

In some communities -- schools don't have the resources, ability to implement procedures and policies that can slow the spread. Minorities seem to have a higher risk. Those fmailies often are multi-generational. So kids being exposed to the virus, bringing it home may make their family sick.

It is a very specific decision how to move forward. AS I said -- most families I know that struggle with their kids and socialization have already implemented procedures to get their kids out there and socializing. Not sure they NEED school (other than for daycare and yes that's a real concern for many families).

It isn't the federal govt's job to dictate policy or procedures for every school board. But leadership would expect them to provide strategies including policies/procedures that may work in some districts.

Not threats to cut funding if they 'open'.

No. Strange isn't it?

RWingers carry on constantly about how schools are nothing but liberal indoctrination centers.

No all of a sudden, it is absolutely essential all the kids get back in these liberal indoctrination centers.

You can but it isn't easy. If average income is $31,099 as per 2017 data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Can you honestly survive on a single income at 31k doubtful, even with all the penny pinching.
