It is known as a false dilemma a type of informal logical fallacy in which you argue that there are only two claims (in this case 100% or Placebo). When there are all sorts of possible claims. Like I said, no precaution is 100% thus you are claiming all precautions are placebos... which is false.
There kind of is. Would you tell your surgeon to get rid of their mask before they put you under? It's just a placebo right? Don't want them to be deprived of oxygen after all.

Re-read what I wrote; "as largely worn by the general public"
I really do applaud this type of mask/protest. Unless the stores want to specify a type of mask and pay people to verify usage, it meets the requirement. And if they dont, it proves my point.

Deliberately cheating the intent of a private business request... I guess that defines your point. Cheating lying etc.. surely sounds like your point.
A capitalist respects the private business rights.. intent and all. Sound like your point is very much anti-business rights .

How is it cheating if they dont specify? I've seen people (including employees) with all types of homemade nonsense and no one in the store says a thing. If they are serious, they'll check.
When I was driving earlier today, I saw a bumper sticker that said "MASK IT OR CASKET". Mask wearing has become pretty much standard here inside any store or public area and I see about 60 percent of people wearing them just when walking around their own neighborhood and maybe 30 percent when driving.
