So this entire discussion began because some people were offended that I do not truly believe these people are "victims"....
Let's see, you are opposed to calling "these people" victims, and you sound like you don't like the term "survivor"...so what exactly were they?

i remember when 3 hurricanes hit florida in 04, i was there and luckily the hurricane missed my city barely, i remember bush was here the next day shaking hands and staging photo ops and said tons of federal money is on the way and most of the cities damaged were rebuilt in less than a year...but then again that was an election year and florida was a toss-up state

Then again, Florida is run by different officials than Louisiana, so is Mississippi and they recovered much faster as well.

We would be more than happy to cut the oil into the continental United States if that tax money means so much to you.
Don't even think about screwing with my city.

Huh? Where was I when Mississippi recovered? Last time I checked, they still haven't recovered. Not even close.

They were citizens who experienced a hurricane, similar to many other citizens who experience a natural disaster such as flooding, tornadoes, earthquakes, and fires (or volanic eruptions if you live in Hawaii).

Bringing up the facts about New Orleans is messing around with the worldview that the people in New Orleans only have themselves to blame, and if they would only leave and live just like middle America but instead they set themselves off, defying God and nature (like San Fran, L.A. Seattle, Portland, NYC, D.C. Memphis, St. Louis, Tampa, Miami, etc)
