Note that these statues were in Baltimore. Maryland did not secede. Lee and Jackson were Virginians. Their only connection to Baltimore might have been if a Maryland Confederate regiment was in their army.
There certainly were Confederate Maryland regiments in the ANV. Baltimore was a hotbed of secession.

Your right, slavery ended a long time ago, as did the confederacy. Yet that does not keep your side of the political/ideological aisle from wanting to destroy artwork in the form of statues or go around demanding renaming of anything your hardcore leftist deem inappropriate.
Thus if your side was consistent, not only would you change the name of the Democrat party (because of it's racist evil past), but also institutions of liberal indoctrination like Yale University.

Strange that you should say that. I live in Maryland and am acquainted with quite a few members of the Invisible Empire/original Boys in the Hood and all of them, every single one, including their wives (but not some of their kids), is a Democrat. Let me repeat that-every single one is a Democrat. They would not vote Republican if their lives depended on it for any office.
It is all part of the Democrat parties effort to whitewash their past, and try to convince the ignorant that their
past is clean, and the Republicans (who ended slavery and segregation) are the evil racist ones.
Many of the Democrats you speak of call themselves Yellow Dog Democrats, because they would never vote Republican since they freed the slaves, and brought the dreaded "carpet baggers" upon them.
But of course in their classic rebranding efforts to make something more palatable than what it really is, they morphed Yellow Dog in Blue Dog, This, as to say they are doing it out of loyalty to their party, not having the negative racial connotations of the previous term.
