That doesn't address my point though.
Did you just find out about global warming in the last couple of years?
These governors that have been screaming about GW for how long now getting caught with their pants down and trying to pin it on anyone else is where I take objection.
If you're ready to give everyone a pass and blame it on Trump for saying stupid stuff then I don't feel that's a responsible way to deal with these situations. Those trees didn't grow overnight.
And in California the majority of these trees are growing on Federal land but I'm sure that is Obama's fault..or wait, maybe Hillary did it?

Environmental idiots, er activists, have take over the Forest Circus. They have effectively halted any forest management in the western forests. Here in Idaho, logging is down over 90% from where it was historically. Small towns are devastated. Since the federal government is the only landowner that pays no property taxes, schools are devastated with no funding. Entire mountainsides are covered with dead, standing timber-a disaster waiting to happen (and it has been happening here). Access roads have either been deliberately destroyed, or allowed to be overgrown, eliminating access by firefighters.

Fortunately our state forests are actually managed and do offer some control-wildfires are rarely an issue there. CA, OR and WA have it worse, with their local forests just as un-managed or even worse than federal lands.

The environmental organizations and the Democratic party that panders to them are just as responsible for this as they (Dems) are for the riots, looting and arson in our cities.

Exactly right. It is effectively blaming it all on Lex Luthor.

And yet the majority of the fires burn on federal land.

Riddle me that one, Batman?

I hate all government so this is hysterical to me.

Not a single Trumper or GOPer on this board will admit the majority of the fires burn on federal land plus the fact that the federal government, under Trump, has been more than willing to work with the state governments in forest control.

If the state governments, like California, are so incompetent then why does Trump's U.S. Forest Service under the Department of Agriculture (based in D.C. NOT Sacramento my Trumpian friends) continue to work them?

Climate change only makes things worse. Places are a bit drier and warmer, fires are more likely to catch and if they do catch, they are more likely to spread and if they do spread they are more likely to spread further.

Climate change just makes environmental conditions more extreme (dry areas become drier - wet areas become wetter). It doesn't make people more or less stupid.

We can't prevent lightning strikes, but fireworks set off in dry grass is just stupid.

Nevertheless, a fire set off by humans this year is likely to spread further than one set 15 years ago, or 30 years ago. If it spreads further more property is damaged and the potential loss of life is greater.

A fire caused by some natural phenomenon (like lightning) is also likely to spread further than one set 15 years ago, or 30 years ago. If it spreads further more property is damaged and the potential loss of life is greater.

The left laughed when Trump suggested to “rake up” the forest (metaphorically speaking) to prevent the further spread of forrest fires. Not so funny when now that’s what they been doing. Trump wins, again lol

Oh man there a host of groups that file lawsuits against all kinds of activity on Federal land. It's not just the typical 'liberal save the spotted owl' types. I've worked with and know several people that work for USFS and BLM- none of which are tree hugging types. We've done many, many projects with them. They support Scouts, Off-road clubs, hunters- they are a good bunch.

My son's Eagle project was on a BLM remote 'boat in only' site on Canyon Ferry (a Missouri River reservoir) - removing an old vault latrine and replacing it with a modern evaporating one. The old one was leeching crap into the water- it needed to go.

THAT project got pushed a year out because neighboring property owners with richy-rich million $$+ homes didn't want a new toilet there. Their motive? They hoped NO toilet there would keep people away so they could have the cove to themselves.

This crap comes from ALL sides and it SUCKS.

Probably the homeless drug addicts they have living in the woods. This idea that if we pay higher energy prices, put ourselves at a competitive disadvantage and give the government more control over energy the weather will change is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. China and India are building boatloads of coal plants as we speak. Well just ship more jobs over there.

Who is raking the forest? I have no idea what you are talking about, because most of the fires are on federal land.
