“Just comply, and there’ll be no issues!”

Quote:
A Salt Lake City police officer is facing a felony charge stemming from an April encounter in which he ordered a police dog to attack a Black man who was on his knees with his hands raised, seemingly complying with officer commands.
It hasn’t escaped me that SLC cops have been in the news a lot lately for a whole slew of shenanigans. In any case, this man sustained some pretty nasty bites.

You police apologists always say just comply and they'll be no issues....

More proof of systemic problems in policing across the country.

UGH. I'm sorry to break it to you guys but there are bad cops out there. There are bad people in all aspects of life. There will always be a small percentage of bad people but as long as the good ones outnumber the bad we will be ok.

If this cop set his dog on this guy and he shouldn't have then he will be reprimanded.

There are literally thousands of arrests across the country everyday and the majority of people comply. A small percentage fight and resist arrest and an even smaller percentage are either tazzed, get roughed up, suffer injuries when the Police need to up their use of force to match or exceed what the suspect is dishing out to them and sometimes people get shot.

It is very rare that an innocent person or someone that is complying gets injured but it does happen.

I guess as a result of this tiny percentage that we should ban, disarm and defund all Police?

Oh well.

No one said there would be NO issues. That is not a fair representation of the argument---but rather a straw man. Most people realize there are criminal cops, and they have to go. There are evil people in every walk of life. The law needs to come down on them, like it comes down on all criminals. This one is getting hit with a felony--good.

People who are in favor of law and order applaud when the law actually works, and charges are brought for such things.

I think every sane person knows that police are not perfect and you can end up with a-holes in blue. Same as any other profession. If the guy did wrong, he'll do the time.

There is significant need for police reform. There is significant need for better training. All of that costs money, so it's a matter of stepping up and paying for it.

And one has to wonder with the war that the Demoncrats are waging on all Police if the good ones will finally have had enough and retire early leaving the departments to fill spots with less qualified, less experienced people that might not be up to the task of the job?

By tackling this small percentage of bad cops problem by accusing all cops of being bad the Left might actually be making the problem worse. Then again the Demoncrats are not very good at thinking things through just ask Biden.

One incident of a dog is systemic !!! Get a grip !!!

The systemic stupidity of the leftwing narrative is getting old but that's where systemic is found !!!

The fact that there are bad cops out there is only one of the reasons reform is needed. Your suggestion that it's no big deal and the cops will be reprimanded doesn't help the people who have had the same thing happen and died. At the moment I can't find the story about the white guy killed by police dogs, but here's another gruesome story about an unarmed man attacked by police dogs who later died in police custody:

https://www.thedailybeast.com/jersey...teal-the-video

Even if this rarely happens it should not prevent fixing the problem - and given the number of cover ups among police, I'm not convinced it's as rare as some would have us believe.

You're another one of those people who has to jump to the extreme by suggesting the OP is saying we need to ban, disarm and defund the police.

How about we just reform departments? What's wrong with that?

And what is wrong with the rest of you that you're okay with this kind of thing when it can happen to anyone?
