I highly doubt Biden is trying to force people to buy 1920 model electric vehicles.

In fact, no one is forcing anyone to buy any vehicle.

You are correct! We only buy ~15% of our oil from the Middle East now. Isn't that great!

But the electric car isn't competing against 1920 gas cars either. The electric car can never outcompete gas cars. Yes democrats are trying to force the phase out of gas and oil.

Until American refineries set themselves up to refine American heavy sulfur crude oil instead of Middle Eastern "light, sweet" crude, then, yes, we are dependent on Middle East oil.
Only ~15% of our oil comes from the Middle East now.

We need to accept the fact that the age of fossil fuels is heading towards its end. We have the choice to embrace and be leaders in the coming change or ignore the issue until it's too late. I vote for the former.

We need to find a solution to the fundamental problems of electric cars, ie charging times, people who park on the streets or communal parking lots, rare earth elements, electric grid issues and general cost issues.

I didn't say the electric car is competing against 1920 gas cars. You are the one who said Biden is trying to force the car that lost out to gas cars a hundred years ago (the 1920 electric car) on people. That's simply not true. That is an apples to elephants comparison.

You say that electric cars can't "outcompete" gas cars, but my guess is you have no clue what you're talking about. Electric cars are already some of the best cars out there. When cost comes down and range goes up, it's a slam dunk. Have you driven a Tesla or other modern electric car?

That's ignoring the fact that electric cars are a much better option regarding climate change. As our electric infrastructure is made up of more and more sustainable energy, electric cars mean much, much less emission of greenhouse gases.

Does anyone remember the electric cars from the early 1970s? I was at a showroom in Elkhart, IN looking at them. It was supposed to take off at that point.

Also, don't we use "oil" to produce electric? Sure some solar, but only in some places. Wind? You really need to read up on that as it isn't what they are printing or saying on MSM to get the big federal subsidies for doing it - when subsidies are involved, the lies roll out!

I suggest learning about the alternative power before shutting down the oil wells.

Also, Texans in general are benefiting from the oil industry as are those in NM, OK and PA. What do think happens to taxes when the oil pumps stop?

This is going to be just like wearing masks. Conservatives will reject all good sense and morality because they resent anyone telling them anything, regardless of the science or the benefits to themselves, their families, their nation or their planet.

Besides that, though, Biden is not going to force anyone to buy non-combustion based cars. That doesn't necessarily mean that he'll stand in the way of states- like California- that may ban new sales of them. Or forcing manufacturers to increase fuel economy standards significantly, or invest in alternatives. The transition process is going to be the same with cars as it will for fossil fuels in general- it will be gradual and will rely heavily on new technology making old obsolete. In many ways, the gas-powered car is already becoming obsolete, and we're not that far away from that process being complete. It didn't start with Biden and it won't end with him. It's inevitable, no matter how much kicking and screaming conservatives/Republicans do as they're dragged into the 21st century.

Of course. Fossil fueled vehicles are going the way of the horse and buggy and we will all love our hydrogen fuel cell cars and trucks. We better get to work, though, or all the forward looking nations will leave us in the dust.

Are you prepared to give up your fossil fuel vehicle ?

I was ready years ago. I need the costs to come down. Hopefully with scale that will happen.

All of my yard tools are battery, no more gasoline stored in the garage! I am very satisfied with the switch. Gasoline is sooo 19th century.
