Is Merry Christmas still an issue with some folks these days? Just two simple pleasant words? After all it is the time of Christmas, the happiest time of year, Santa Claus, celebrating, gift giving, etc.

Right now you should be wishing everyone a Happy Hanukkah.

Exactly. We are currently in the midst of Hanukkah and Christmas is a week and a half away.

"Merry Christmas" used appropriately has never been an issue. Arrogantly demanding that "Merry Christmas" is the only acceptable December holiday greeting was the "problem".

I trust that if someone wishes me a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, etc., that it is their expression for me to have a peaceful, spiritual, restful, and joyful time celebrating our holiday traditions with my family in a way that they identify with.

It is also my intent when I utter those expressions.

It’s merry to everyone. Christmas- Hanukkah - Qwanzaa and the spaghetti guy. Celebrate at will, just enjoy your seasons of cheer!

You could always say “Happy Festivus.”
