My tenant is from the former Soviet Union. Over the years, we have had a number of discussions about life in that country.
She has stressed the point that there was a distinction made in the USSR between socialism and communism. Socialism was the economic system, while communism was the political system.
The country was the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, but the only legal political party was the Communist Party.
Freedom of Speech: Private corporations are not beholden to promote any speech they don't want to. Freedom of speech only guarantees that a person or corporation can express ideas without government retaliation or censorship.
Censorship: Only the government can be accused of unconstitutional censorship. Trump runs the government so unless you are accusing Trump of censorship, not sure what you are onto here.
Totalitarian media: The media in America is comprised of hardcore capitalist, profit driven corporate entities that can say, or not say whatever they want. Not sure how a private media group could be called "totalitarian" while retaining any meaning of the word.
Conclusion: Stop repeating words from OANN, NewsMax, InfoWars, etc. unless you know what they mean and how, contextually, they can be used to describe the current socio-political situation you seem desperate to comment on.

FBI covered everything about Biden and his son.. did the FBI censor or leak false information for three years about the Russian Collusion? The answer is they leaked information to the propaganda media to take out Trump. When the FBI gets political it is a police state.

We tried appealing to the voluntary mercy of man towards his fellow man, didn't work. Look at the US today - when asked to do something as simple as wearing a mask in the supermarket - a minor inconvenience to protect the health of others, or so one would think - a certain subset of people go into paroxysms of rage.
Communism has a bit more of a specific definition than government collecting taxes and spending the revenue. Well, not in the US general discourse, of course.
