The problem is that the politicians that really are trying to do right by the people of this country are then labeled as radicals or too far left. Bernie is a good example of this. I truly believe he wants to do right for this country and make life better for everyone. Some people hear this and then say he is all for socialism, too extreme, etc. These same people will then keep electing idiots like Pelosi and McConnell and scream to the rafters when a new stimulus deal isn't done. Fact of the matter is that the people of this country need a cash infusion. Some need it to get by, buy food, maybe get their kids a gift for the holidays. Some don't need it, but will cycle it back through the economy. Some don't need it and will just save it. In the end though the economy and the people need this.

Yes, but its not just due to the pandemic. Anytime you see a mass food give away you see the same thing. Most likely more now because a lot more people are unemployed now so they have time to go to the food give a ways.

I'm sure it is going to help out those who have lost jobs/work supplement their food expenditures. It is a good thing just not an indication that people are going hungry.

There's truth here... and those same people are the ones who drive our economy with their lifestyles when things are good.

So... they deserve to starve and lose everything due to a pandemic that they have no control over???

At least 63% of people in America live paycheck to paycheck...

Read Bernie Sanders comments today...he gets it. He sees his fellow politicians and top 1%'rs saying...

"Eat our crumbs you filthy stinking peasants!"

Corporate America gets trillions, then they kick it back to the politicians through 3rd parties, or it gets washed as campaign donations.

"Hungry 99%'ers, get nothing, until we are done feeding at the trough"

It's my stupid dream that some day, Red & Blue will see all this for what it is....total corruption by the top 1% to control the bottom 99%.

Its time for the 99% to conduct a re-set of the top 1%.
You're sounding like a socialist now...Trump and the GOP would never go for that.

Bernie is right on a lot of things...Universal Healthcare...and ending corporate welfare being big ones.

But how do you pay for it without raising taxes on the wealthy...those that can afford it?
We can't all of a sudden just print more money and give it away...we're already too far in debt.

There has always been people out of jobs. Unemployment rate is what 7% now? even during normal times, unemployment is around 5%. Do you see food drive like this during normal times? Where do those people get their food or survive during normal times?

Tired of people assuming just because people are picking up free food, that they can't afford food or food insecured or what ever you want to call it.

My point is that you give people free stuff, they will line up and get it.

Take my gas example, just because people line up for miles to get free gas, does it mean they can't afford gas?

That's the real issue...I was in that category too...I had to cut back on my spending...I stopped going out as much to nice restaurants...stopped buying things I don't need but want...people need to reevaluate their spending...if you need to move into a smaller house/apartment because your mortgage/rent is too much, then do it...it's not the end of the world.

You make it sound like people in that situation can easily just "move" to a smaller place right now.

You think they should sell their houses right now and take a loss on top of everything else?
The people buying houses right now are the ones who profit from a down market. We're not talking about feeding those people..

How are the people who are hurting going to sell their houses or afford to move when they can't afford food?

The admonition to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes means before judging someone, you must understand his experiences, challenges, thought processes, etc. The full idiom is: Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. In effect, it is a reminder to practice empathy.
