Nice post up there to my neighbor in Ohio! I just want to jump in here and quickly say that I am getting crankier about certain matters more now, than when this all started. I have also become downright rude in the way I deal with some people now. I'm thinkin I may need to order some chill pills. That's all.

Love the Karen smokers who think wearing a mask will save them

I don't even own a freezer. Before the pandemic, I ate-out every single day. Sometimes twice a day. "Eating out" often meant $0.99 tacos, or an all-you-can-eat buffet. For consumption at home, I'd buy fresh fruits/vegetables. Left out on the table, those things last for maybe 3-4 days. That meant a trip to the grocery store at least twice a week. This is what happens if you live alone, work long hours, and never learned from mom how to cook... been doing this for decade after decade after decade.

Now suddenly we've all turned into preppers. Full freezer, loaded larder, stuffed cellar. Well, congratulations! You get to survive the apocalypse. As for the rest of us, please leave us to our gruesome deaths, will you?
Well, I was a prepper. I had to really dip into my supplies since the stores were sold out.

It's getting worse here. Cold weather has set in. Doctors' offices are still requiring you to be seen outside in the open. You have to pull up in your vehicle to be seen. So, I already can't get regular medical care. I have no vehicle. So, in order for me to be seen by my primary care physician, I would have to stand outside in the cold for hours. I have severe asthma and many other health problems. I could literally die trying to be seen by the doctor. I have a very hard time dealing with the cold. And these people for restrictions keep saying stuff like 'how would you like to not be able to be seen by a doctor because there's too many COVID cases for them to keep up?' Well, I already can't be seen by a doctor normally.

The doctors that was still seeing patients inside have canceled the appointments for December. So, I was not able to see my pulmonologist, neurologist, or my urologist. Therapy was even cancelled without notice. My Crohn's doctor shut down to seeing patients back in March and still isn't seeing anyone in the office. I've almost died several times from Crohn's disease, so my life is endangered from that. There were hardly any cases around here at all when the doctors were already refusing to treat me.

I had to lose another tooth because the dentist was shut down for so long. I might still lose some other teeth. My teeth get messed up easy. It's hereditary. I even had a tooth shatter once when I yawned. That was over the summer. They may close the dentists down again. I don't know. But when I had a jaw infection it wasn't even considered an emergency enough to be seen by the dentist. And there were hardly any cases at all at the time. I had to go to the emergency room for antibiotics. No pain meds. They don't care how shattered your tooth is. You stay in pain. (Same for the car wreck. I have a back/neck/spinal cord/shoulder injury and no pain meds. I live in severe pain every single day!)

Requiring bars to also sell food is not a "lockdown". Being unable to leave your home at all is a lockdown. You never heard the term "bar food"?
Still interesting how the States didn't need funding though

58 Cong. Rec. (Bound) - House of Representatives: June 4, 1919

I still haven't gone through the Census Bureau numbers --- the state of the economy, it will be interesting to find how well they fared financially with all that mask wearing and not going to work.

omg --- comparing myself to you I am healthy as a horse ---
So sorry for you in these difficult times and the thousands like you. Hang in there ---

I've been putting off my doctor visit because I just don't want to go --- I do have a car though, never thought about that situation without one --- ty for the reality check up.

Remember there was a global war on, too.

There really was a deliberate effort to suppress mention of the severity of the flu epidemic, not just in the US but other countries, too. It is not something made up by historians on the news media.

I know there was a global war --- the soldiers from the u.s. spread it, every where else. And I'm not talking about the Census mentioning it, but economic facts will indicate the overall health of the economy during that time --- comparing it to the years before and the years after will give the indication ---

Did they go to work ?

So your extended family does what your family does, stays away from doing errands for weeks at a time, even before a major holiday? Your freezers must be all stocked at each of your homes! That's good, but not so common.
It's not that hard with a little planning. My family and I did the same for Christmas. Totally worth it, because we could celebrate in relative relaxation.

Why? It's not that hard. Food lasts a really long time in the fridge. A little planning goes a long way. Cooking isn't that difficult for anyone who can read.

Neither do I, other than the one attached to my refrigerator. A separate freezer is not necessary for menu planning and common sense.

Sorry, but that sounds awful.

I’ll wear a mask but do not support the restrictions and shutdowns of businesses, schools, etc.
That's half the battle right there. If everyone wore a mask, we would be easing up on restrictions. But the problem is... we don't.

And masks do work. Otherwise, medical providers nationwide would have collapsed months ago. Funny how they can manage to remain open when they are on the frontlines. But since people can't be trusted to do the right thing in other businesses, they need restrictions.

Having a stockpile of food is also a privilege. People who are lower income and poor often cannot afford to buy groceries in bulk.

I cook most of our meals and tend to go to the grocery store often.
