Listen, the owner of one of the biggest Mexican restaurants in my town got into big trouble for smuggling employees in from Mexico. When asked why he did that, he said because they work harder. Now two years later that restaurant is still closed, so nobody working there.
KARMA! The owner SHOULD be in jail!! I'm GLAD he's out of business!!
So is the cost of a Big Mac at McDonald's in Arkansas higher than it is in Oklahoma, because the min. wage is $11, rather than $7.25? If it's about the same price, then you don't know what you're talking about.
Jesus H.......
This isn't about hamburgers.
Why do people always want to talk about minimum wage in terms of burger flippers?
This effects everyone and every part of the economy.
With a new minimum wage at $15/hour, nobody will be making less than ... well, $15/hour. So lots of people will get raises.
No, lots of people..... probably the vast majority of people will NOT get raises.
You think that someone who's spent years working their way up from $7.25 minimum wage to say.....$18.00 is going to get a raise just because minimum wage goes up to $15.00??
No.....most likely they're going to get screwed..
Because they put in their time and gained experience to make themselves WORTH $18.00.
There's no magic wand that employers can wave to suddenly make them worth MORE than $18.00.
What most don't seem to understand is that when the federal minimum wage (or state specific minimum wage) increases, so do the costs of running said business. Which, those costs, are passed on to the consumer.
Biden not only plans to raise corporate taxes (small business are also corporations), he also wants to double down on his stupid with an increase in fed. min. wage to $15/hr.
This.
And Democrats think that this will actually help people.
Do you know that under Trump, we had the lowest poverty rate in decades? Wages pre covid were finally starting to increase after decades of being flatlined?
That's why Trump had to go.
Can't have some political outsider actually helping people and turning the perpetual victim class into productive citizens....
God forbid, they might actually start voting Republican.

$1.98 is not that big a difference, in terms of percentage it is, but not in terms of actual dollars
Wow...$15 an hour...thats great tomorrow I’m going out to purchase a Porsche
Minimum wage? Isn’t that what they pay teenagers and people they oppress? I seem to remember making that in the 80’s
