Since when do YOU wear yours 18 hours a day? Are you out in public 18 hours a day? Even 8 hours a day? You don't get any kind of break that you can step outside EVER?
I was responding to a post that doctors and nurses wear them all day. I only wear them where is required.
My argument is Taiwan did not do well relative to their region, and that their success is not due to masks, but rather early lockdowns.
Oh that's funny. I'm sure the early lock down comment would be eviscerated by the trolls and the all about my freedom crowd had this thread been about lock downs.
I think you really don't have enough knowledge about how complex and efficient Taiwan's response was to this pandemic. Yes, they wore masks from day one, and that helped a lot.
Read nbcnews "In Taiwan, the coronavirus pandemic is plating out very differently. What does life without a lockdown look like?
"One economy that managed to avoid a lockdown, and which has been functioning better than many others, is Taiwan's. The island appears to have emerged from the crisis relatively unscathed. It managed to keep its 11 million - strong labor force working and its economy running."
You can read further about what else they did to stop the virus with only a handful of deaths. That's what an honest science based response looks like vs lies and cover up responses.
Masks did play an integral role in stopping the virus. Trump even sent Azar over to Taiwan to see how they handled the pandemic.
You can read about it in the nypost: Health secretary Alex Azar praises Taiwan's coronavirus response."
Or on hhs.gov>news.
You'll find that Taiwan never had a lock down or any disruption to its economy. The are a model for good, honest leadership.
Go outside on a cold day, say under30 degrees F. with a mask on ..If you see your breath with the mask on ITS NOT WORKING...Moisture from your mouth is getting out into the local atmosphere. .How in gods name is it stopping a virus .10,000 times smaller than your breath molecules?
Oh that's right double up the masks .lol

So if masks were integral in Taiwan, why did they not work in Spain where they imposed mask mandates in March after lockdowns and they drove down the virus to small levels? Italy too imposed mask mandates.
Laos also reported 0 deaths from Covid. So has Cambodia. Thailand has reported very few. Were these countries wearing masks from day 1? No. But they have one thing in common with Taiwan, they closed their borders from day 1, and imposed quarantine hotels (or in the case of Laos, simply don't allow travel).
Your lungs expel not only carbon dioxide and other gases, but are also a part of your immune system. They expel fats, and dead tissue, and other things that they don't want rebreathed back in from mask space.
That's why people are getting staph infections, and gum disease, and impetigo from their masks.
This doesn't end well.
I haven't heard that, do you have a link? No one I know has had problems.
The virus dies relatively quickly once on a surface. There is now enough mask inventory that you can dispose of a mask daily, if that floats your boat. You cannot be simultaneously worried about "pathogens" and laissez-faire over COVID.
The over-arching problem here is "you can't make me!" It's childish behavior against a global pandemic. It was driven by politicizing the wearing of masks, especially in America. If you wear shirt and shoes to go into a store, surely you can wear a mask.
For a pandemic that has killed 450,000 Americans so far, I'm in favor of masks whether they provide 90% protection or 25% protection. Both numbers are better than zero.
Then wear a mask. Hide in your basement. Whatever you think is best. Nobody gives a f*ck.
Stop extrapolating your hysterically over-exaggerated fears onto everyone else who wants to live their life. You whine about the eXtrEme DaNgEr of covid...you know what else is dangerous? F*cking life! Do you drive a car? Do you walk down the sidewalk? Do you have any hobbies that require you to leave your house? Guess what: they all have risks.

This is the exact attitude that is the reason we can't travel, go to a concert, a basketball game or a Broadway show. Many things we want to go out and do we can't because there's a virus that's killing people left and right and mask wearing for a while could have changed that.
