OP is a leftist dolt
Did OP bother to find out why "nearly double that, 30 gigawatts, had been lost from thermal sources, which includes gas, coal and nuclear energy"? Do you think it is because of the frozen weather? The plants were closed down because Texas goes green. The wind turbines are used to replace those plants. That is the Fox News story.

The increasing extreme weather fluctuations are likely caused by arctic warming. We may need to find a way to harden the energy generation infrastructure against such events.

This begs the question. Why do conservatives hate renewable energy so much? Why do they get such a hard-on for non-renewable sources? Do conservatives actually believe that we have unlimited supply of fossil fuel?
Politics. Texas and Oklahoma are red states that are largely dependent on fossil fuel revenue, revenue that gets channeled into GOP politicians to fund election campaigns. They see green energy as a threat to their power base, their livelihoods, and the livelihoods of oil companies and their employees. That's why years ago the fossil companies funded the anti-climate change astroturf propaganda campaigns. Why did Trump bend over backwards to kiss up to Russia and Saudi Arabia? The are large oil and gas producers. Follow the money.

You are dead wrong. They shut down the plant and switch to green energy (wind turbines). ANd, what is your logic???

Gas Pipelines in Texas don't use cold insulation -so things were freezing.

Wind turbines can also be insulated against cold weather. They use them in Europe near the Arctic. In the summer, they need coolant.

Lots of emojis in your post and some misinformation.

At this time of year, power plants that run on coal or natural gas often shut down for planned maintenance ahead of the summer cooling season. That means we have less capacity available than usual right now.Has nothing to do with plants closing because of green energy.

You made it up.

Sweden Shows Texas How to Keep Turbines Spinning in Icy Weather

"While ice has forced some turbines to shut down just as a brutal cold wave drives record electricity demand, that’s been the least significant factor in the blackouts, according to Dan Woodfin, a senior director for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which operates the state’s power grid.

The main factors: Frozen instruments at natural gas, coal and even nuclear facilities, as well as limited supplies of natural gas, he said. “Natural gas pressure” in particular is one reason power is coming back slower than expected Tuesday, added Woodfin."

Republican anti-green energy talking point thoroughly shot down by the grid operator. Mic drop.

73% of our power comes from coal, gas, and nuclear. Texas chose not to weatherize the plants even though it was identified as an issue 10 years ago when we had rolling blackouts. This, combined with some of our fossil fuel plants being shut down for maintenance has caused this mess.

Here's the lesson here. Don't rely on your Govt. Buy a good genset and be ready for the worst. Your Govt isn't going to save everyone in an event like this.
