Delta-8 THC has gone viral in eastern south Dakota. It produces a similar high from what I can tell and is being sold because only delta-9 is currently illegal. My particular town isn't and doesn't want to do anything about it despite objections from Kristi Noem and her reefer madness.
Going to buy some more gummy worms today. I'm sure the state legiature will try to close the loophole at some point since they don't really want to respect the will of the voters. Republicans are closet authoritarians also.
Its so much easier to eat 1 or 2 gummy bears than screw up my stomach and give myself reflux and a nasty hangover using alcohol. Here's to freedom, statists.
Again, I have no problem legalizing drugs and stopping the idiot prosecution of drug users. However, there is still a concern with children. Not everyone reacts to moderate amounts of alcohol like you.

Its called being a good parent and punishing parents for breaking laws. Even if a kid does eat an edible though (and yes there is a learning curve to edibles because of their delayed reaction and how easy it is to take too much) they will not die. It may not feel pleasant but THC doesnt kill.
Everyone learns new things through trial and error. Its fear of the unknown that keeps republicans scared of pot...and democrats scared of guns for that matter. When a kid touches a stove burner and burns their hand, that's called life experience...its the best way to learn....not restricting activities from people to protect them from themselves in my opinion.
Often times its peoples emotional reaction to events that is worse than the event itself...and accidentally taking too much pot in the hands of an experienced user is not something I would label a traumatic event.

Just a point to consider any time a vote goes down like this, look and see if there was some language or attached legislation which was a partisan attempt to slip in something that still needed to be debated, or was voted down in previous attempts in other legislation.

I'd say conflict with Big Pharma is more likely. Hard to sell something like Ambien with its well documented nasty side-effects when a toke or two and maybe a glass of wine are effective sleep meds with far fewer side effects and lower cost.
