They do if they are granted that right as part of a contract.

That same contract has rules that the passenger agrees to adhere to. One of those conditions currently is wearing a mask.

CDC guidance mentions the ADA.

The ADA page I linked earlier mentions reasonable modifications.

What reasonable modifications can an airline do in this case?

None is my guess.

The child was over 2 years, and could not be reasonably accommodated.

Obviously the parents had an inkling that they were up against breaking the rules, hence the doctor's note.

Like I said, earlier, if lawyers get involved, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

But the airlines had a right to our money? Something fishy with that logic

how can the airline not get sued. if it was my kid I would get revenge.

i told someone I had a mask exemption even though I don't. the fact is that does not matter old women don't care about exemptions.

how do you feel about no exemptions? you will comply. it makes me beyond angry.

the airline does not even care if its sued. no rights for no one!!

maybe some of the people enforcing the rules will go down on a airplane.

In Paris Maine they are sueing over these mask regulations because they believe its a violation of the American disablilties act.

i hate my country.

I might move to Florida as I call freedom land.

its not the country its the government I despise. I live in an ultra-leftist state and it's driving me crazy.

American Airlines had no problem accommodating this 4 year-old autistic boy.

Not always true. The NC Supreme Court ruled that oceanfront property owners must allow the public to use their privately owned dry sand beach property, at will.

The Public Trust part of the beach is from the mean high tide line (National Tidal Datum Epoch), seaward, as it is in most states. The dry sand beach is usually privately owned unless it is a public park. So this was an unconstitutional state-wide taking of private property for public use which was not compensated.

Naturally, this creates uncompensated liability issues for the private property owners, as well.

I could have sworn for awhile the experts were saying children 5 and under didn't need to wear masks. I don't know beats me, hopefully it will be over soon.

The federal mask mandate is a minimum requirement. There’s nothing that says a company policy can’t go above and beyond. Again, with possible exception of the ADA.
