Anybody here still remember what happened last summer? There is no way this legislation is going to pass after the Antifart and BLM terrorized this country for almost half a year with their burning, looting, and killing.
The only people who want to pass this legislation are the far leftists because they want the government to take away guns from law abiding citizens and leave them defenseless against BLM and Antifa terrorists in 2024.
Far right and moderate Americans are not falling for this.
Let’s get back to the heart of the matter: what needs to happen to convince people like you that something needs to change and we cannot continue the business as usual attitude? 1000 people killed everyday? 10,000 perhaps? Will 10,000 casualties convince you to step out of the declarations and theories and into reality? Or, no matter how many people die, we still cannot change anything?
If the later is true, we shouldn’t discuss it anymore, because we are just treading water.

There are already thousands of gun laws. This is just peeing into the wind at this point. How about we start arming our citizens instead. The route of unarming is going the wrong direction, just look at the numbers. 500 million firearms...that's never going away.
Do traffic laws “solve” accidents? Not really. Minimize them? Absolutely. We don’t ditch traffic laws because they don’t solve 100% of all accidents, but they are there for the benefit of society. Although sometimes they can be annoying. When I hurry to work and the red light stops me for a long time - it’s very annoying. Still I don’t want to get rid of it. It’s the same with firearms.
Minimize? No. Cities with the most regressive, backwards attacks on the civil rights of law abiding Americans typically have the worst violent crime. While states that pass pro-civil rights laws, such as constitutional carry, often result in lower crime rates.
What works? Lock up criminals. Pretty simple idea-but one that the Democratic party has opposed time after time-and increasingly in the last decade. Restrict drug users and commit the severely mentally ill to institutions. But...Dems, or liberals in general, "care" about the civil rights of the mentally insane, and of criminals. While supporting restricting the civil rights of law abiding, mentally healthy individuals. At least be honest-you don't care about reducing violent crime or stopping killings. If you did, you'd promote those things I mentioned-not more mindless, useless, gun control laws.
Also the gun bill HR8 tacks on so many fees that the buyer for the gun you are selling would end up paying more in fees that the amount he is paying for the gun
Make it impossible for the poor to have guns legally while making as many people as possible to be poor.
Solving the root cause would be the ultimate and very complicated to fix. I’ll take something that translates in to less mass murders by mentally ill people even if we don’t cure them all. The killings have to stop. If you can’t cure or remove the killer than remove the weapon in his hand.
Maybe society could stop isolating and harming them for much of their lives.

My questions... Why does anyone need an ak47/ar15, or any gun that is capable of shooting multiple rounds in a matter of seconds.
Why does anyone need a handgun that does the same?
I am not against gun ownership, and want to know your reasons regarding the two questions I asked above.
With some answers, I will go into detail regarding a solution that will work for everyone.
