IF someone told you 18 months ago that we would be wearing face masks in supermarkets you would have thought they were crazy. if they said everything would be shut down and people would be working from home you would say that won't happen. If they said Businesses will be forced to close destroying them you would have said no way. If they told you children would be out of school for a long time you would have said no way. what about police officers going into people's homes because of a few extra people congregating there.

It was uncalled for and took away people's rights. you are for police going into people's homes if they have a few extra people inside? how about police being called because a child had a play date?
what about if you had a restaurant and owned it for 20 years and the state made restrictions so strict it destroyed your business? what if they told you to close for months and you could not recover? that is unconstitutional. the constitution and bill of rights do not go away because people get sick.

She's the one that engaged in a knee jerk first impression by even making the comparison imo. A little bit more thinking I'm sure could have furnished her with a better analogy.

People that have left quarantine (illegally) when they've flown back from somewhere infected with the disease have caused lockdowns for millions of others, ruining livelyhoods for whole cities. Why should one individual be allowed to cause that kind of havoc for millions of their fellow citizens? In places like Australia, where there's no community transmission, it only takes one idiot to cause misery for everyone else.
When they've done their quarantine they're free to go and that's the end of it. Because of these laws, Australia for the most part (excepting international visitors and other such measures) has been completely normal for months.

I heard in only certain parts of Australia there are strict rules. I believe it was victoria where it seemed like a police state.
well if it's only for health care or aged care then that is not that bad. I thought it was for everyone and they needed the vaccine.
the numbers of deaths in the United States are inflated. They labeled anyone that tested positive as a covid death even if they did not die from covid directly. Also, our test is 1000 times more sensitive than in other countries.
