Obesity kills 2.8 million more. What is Fauci doing about that?
They are only harming themselves. Gun owners should shoot themselves, not children and innocent people. In fact many places, neighborhood, buildings work places have banned smoking. Where have you been?
Since smoking kills almost 500,000 people each year, why isn't smoking banned?
Yes, and just think of all the innocent people the smokers make sick through secondhand smoke! We must be protected from those who are too selfish to give up smoking!
(My point is why do many people say that smokers have the right to smoke and possibly sicken other people, but many of these same people say that people don't have the right to refuse to be vaccinated against COVID?)

41,000 of those deaths involve second hand smoke. Don't those lives matter to democrats?
You can't smoke indoors and many apartment buildings are non smoking. It's been a while since I've even seen a person smoking. It is a health issue, as is obesity but if anyone tried to ban smoking or nasty food, some folks would start complaining about "muh rights as a Murican."
The UK is working on educating people about healthy eating. It keeps health costs down. However, they do have a lot more smokers than we do (the smoking part is anecdotal because when I am in England I always see more smoking along with more drinking than we have here.)
It is banned in US more than in other countries. You won’t see smokers inside public buildings, trains, busses, subways, hotels. Did you see anyone lighting a cigarette in shopping malls or schools? Smoking is prohibited even outside, on train platforms.
BTW, that has zero to do with “democrats”. It is a non-political, national health issue. Trump is the person who made Covid-19 into a partisan issue from day one.
At first i thought you were going to say Trump is the one that raised the legal age to smoke to 21.
Cigarette use in a number of developing countries may fall to zero in the next three decades as smokers quit or switch to alternative products, according to a new report.
Smoking will disappear by 2050 from the U.S., parts of Europe, Australia and large chunks of Latin America if the declining trend seen in the last decades continues, Adam Spielman, analyst at Citigroup Inc., wrote in a note published Tuesday.
The analysis shows how important it is for Big Tobacco to arm itself with competitive cigarette alternatives. The industry has been undergoing some of the biggest changes in its history: The number of children currently smoking has plunged by almost three-quarters in the last 20 years, tobacco use among men is on the decline for the first time on record and cigarette volumes have been falling in a straight line for decades.
In countries like China, France and Russia, cigarette smoking is likely to still be common in 2050.
Because they have to leave an open door for pot smoking and a high & controlable population.
Same reason most governors still allowed liquor stores to stay open as an essential business in many areas. Better to have the population home and drunk than out in the street protesting(and it's not about social distancing in a crowd). If all it takes is some nicotine to keep the people happy and compliant why not.

Uh, Fauci is into infectious disease/epidemiology. The Pandemic, remember?
The health related dilemmas of cigarettes has been an ongoing public health project and subject for many years. As well as obesity.
