Since smoking kills almost 500,000 people each year, why aren't the democrats banning smoking?

Taxes, democrats love the tax money smokers bring in.

Such a dumb question.

Go ahead on and kill yourself.

Leave the rest of us out of it.

Rj Reynolds was a huge contributor to Trump's political presidency. Trump ran under the republican party. Maybe you should be asking the republicans who loooooveeee corporate money beyond the health factor. Maybe they can tell you why banning smoking would hurt one of their political backers. ? But don't worry, we have mj coming on the scene. Soon most will be doing bong hits and be too high to care about anything.

Well, they have made smoking in public effectively illegal, and raised taxes on cigarettes so high its prohibitively expensive to smoke.

It is banned in US more than in other countries. You won’t see smokers inside public buildings, trains, busses, subways, hotels. Did you see anyone lighting a cigarette in shopping malls or schools? Smoking is prohibited even outside, on train platforms.

BTW, that has zero to do with “democrats”. It is a non-political, national health issue. Trump is the person who made Covid-19 into a partisan issue from day one.
