Whites benefitted from Affirmative Action. Affirmative Action was not ever at any point exclusive to black people or even favored black people.
Well that's ridiculous, but this isn't even about whites and blacks. This is democrats discriminating against whites and in favor of everyone not white.
I don't know. I do know that that article you posted didn't lead with a story involving that, so that means that it doesn't prove that point.
Ok I'll dig it out for you. FDR created the Farm Security Administration, responsible for giving loans to small farmers. Good thing, right? Well, the FSA systematically denied loans to black farmers. If you lack access to government backed loans that your white counterparts can easily obtain, it makes you less competitive. In the 1960's there reforms to this program that put the decision of who gets loans into local government's control. I bet you can predict who the southern local governments favored. White farmers literally enjoyed socialism at the expense of black farmers.
Here's a nice quote, showing that this is not a new issue: "In 1965, the United States Commission on Civil Rights uncovered blatant and dramatic racial differences in the level of federal investment in farmers. The commission found that in a sample of counties across the South, the FmHA provided much larger loans for small and medium-size white-owned farms, relative to net worth, than it did for similarly sized black-owned farms—evidence that racial discrimination “has served to accelerate the displacement and impoverishment of the Negro farmer.”
As with all things these days, being a small farmer has gotten much tougher (for everyone). But those black farmers who weren't able to obtain these loans suffered disproportionately. African Americans as a group lost 98% of their farmland since the 1950's. This isn't about punishing white people. This is about fixing policies that resulted in actual discrimination against certain groups.

Nope, my family's American story is blue-collar Pittsburgh. We had nothing to do with slavery. Regardless, this law violates the U.S. Constitution, and anyone who says otherwise is slinging the bull.

But hopefully something good comes of this: I heard my life-long Pittsburgh Democrat uncle complaining about this policy, and saying that he's counting on Joe Manchin to be the country's savior. Maybe finally....FINALLY....things like this will finally bring these guys into the realities of the 21st century.
