I have no biases against any particular animal or breed of animal, but I just never understand how anyone can leave such young ones alone in the vicinity of large and potentially dangerous animals.

Life is not always the same as YouTube videos where babies and small kids are happily hugging large animals.

Quote:
A 10-month-old baby has died after being attacked by two family dogs in Johnston County.

Johnston County Sheriff's Office Capt. Danny Johnson said deputies responded to the home on Riparian Court in Willow Spring around 8 p.m. for a call about an unresponsive child.

When deputies arrived, they started CPR on the baby, but were unsuccessful.

EMS was called and again attempted CPR but the baby did not respond. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson said an investigation determined the father, who is a law enforcement officer, had briefly left the baby unattended in the home to go outside and move a sprinkler in the yard. He heard a commotion and when he went back inside, the girl had been attacked by the family's dogs.

Moral of the story is that while owners like to talk how well they know their dog they seem to forget that they’re still animal. And occasionally their instincts will take over. I cringe when I see people posting pictures of large dog with their small children. Did you know that dogs often become secretly jealous of children because of the attention they receive? It can build up until they attack. Under no circumstances should you ever leave a child too small to fend for itself alone with your dog. I don’t care how well you think you know your dog. Very sad story. I can’t imagine being this child’s father.

The poor child born to such an ignorant father. How many times do these things have to happen before people take them seriously? I mean why would you leave a young child alone with two Rottweilers? It defies common sense.

RIP Baby...............a baby is helpless, they have to be protected.

Let me say it again, any dog of can go nutso in the blink of any eye.

You have little kids and/or a baby, I would strongly advise against owning a dog big enough to
main or kill them..............really. Better yet, get a soft, warm, furreh, musty-smelling KITTEH

Having pets is a bit weird.

You don’t see bears walking around with porcupines on a leash.

No story is more tragic than this. And yet this is only the latest in the long history of the irresponsibility and stupidity so rampant among dog owners. This is negligence beyond any excusing or attempt at understanding.

There needs to be charges brought against this father and those dogs need to be put down.
