The soft bigotry of low expectations.

Many Democrats support voter ID, that's why the issue enjoys overwhelming support.

There are no excuses left. None.

This. The Democrats want to be able to go door to door to harvest votes. They know this is a strength of theirs. They won the last election with this strategy... They know republicans don't go around and organize in this manner. If a person wants to vote they should make the effort to go and drive to the polling place.

I did that to show you that Republicans will jump to the next level at any moment to keep people from voting.

It’s a hardship for MANY people to get an ID. And it’s not just about money.

Interesting that you attack the poor. MANY people born at home do not have birth certificates.

Ask any midwife.

See how this works?

You are requiring people to PAY for right. That’s illegal.

Are you aware how many Americans do not have a birth certificate? I worked in a State Department Passport Acceptance Center in my last job - and MANY individuals do not have birth certificates. You’re required to have one to get not only a passport - but a driver’s license - and now with REAL ID a birth certificate is required.
Why not make getting an ID free? I would be on board with that.

It all comes down to self-preservation. Many elections, whether they are at the local, state, or federal level, are decided by very small margins. Margins so small, that the slightest abrupt change can alter an election in one party's favor. Democrats oppose voter ID because they recognize that a large base of their constituents are poor, young, and live in areas that are densely packed. Voter IDs may or may not (it's hard to know for sure) put an undue burden on some of these demographics, thus hindering their chance to vote. If this happens then a local/state election that the Democrats would have won by a few thousand votes could easily turn in an election that they lost by a few thousand votes.
What exactly would the 'undue burden' be? They need an ID to buy alcohol and seem to manage fine.

Well in all fairness, kids in inner city school districts aren't learning to read so...
