And we in the US are reducing our use of fossil fuels. We need to allow our economy, science and technology to find the way. allowing the idiots in government to decide for us is simply insane. Politicians only ever do what is in the best interest of their political careers. Then we have the Marxists who seek to use the panic from catastrophic climate change to transform our government into one that suits them.

All of this panic porn and the frantic Henny Penny 'the sky is falling' antics, is causing push-back. When politicians and the news media lie, distort and misrepresent and pollute science, it produces even more push-back.

Of course they have. Basic physics 101, Nobel prize winning chemist Svante Arrhenius postulated a doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere would increase global temperatures by 5 deg C. CO2 is transparent to visible and UV sunlight but absorbs infrared energy. Simple blackbody physics.

The climate models have been remarkably accurate.
As I pointed out: No proof. Even after 50 years of trying.

CO2 also reflects incoming solar radiation - that is, it prevents a significant amount of solar radiation from ever getting into most of the atmosphere

Not true.
Did somebody recently complain about "denial"?

This is way too easy.

Valid points but two things can be true at the same time:
  1. China is the biggest polluter on the planet right now.
  2. The United States held that crown for about 80 years.

My point was, the USA ain't innocent and does have our fair share of the blame. But neither of those facts above alone are useful. Calling out the USA just makes Americans defensive. They clam up and don't want to talk about it. Calling out China just makes the Chinese defensive. They clam up and don't want to talk about it. But if you can offer both the USA and China power infrastructure that can easily meet the rapidly increasing demand for more power, make electrical power cheaper and better than ICE and fossil fuels across the board, and you just happen to do while generating virtually zero pollution ... well at that point, who cares?? "It's their fault!! They're the biggest polluter!!" <-- Those arguments be damned, if you make it cheaper and easier across the board to go green then everyone jumps on board, and it doesn't matter who's been naughty or nice.

Fossil fuels are easier in the short term and can function more independently for smaller engines. Those are the kinds of things we have yet to solve. Greener energy has solved just about everything else, so it's likely just a matter of time.

But at the end of the day, if a Tesla S Series or Roadster 2 can beat every other legal car on the street in a race and can be fueled up for 1/3 the cost, why do I still want an internal combustion engine? If a Thorium Plant can massively outproduce a coal-fire plant and do it with a tiny fraction of the overhead, why do I still want the coal-fire plant? This is how you get everyone to go greener: You make going green better than the polluting alternative in every conceivable way.

No.........

The UN/IPCC was formed in 1988 to lower CO2 emissions...
...and with the UN/IPCC's blessings....China has increase their emissions 10 times higher since then

You can't claim that any increase in CO2 will kill us all....
...and at the same time say some other country was late to the game....and "per capita" bullcrap...and they get to increase their emissions 10 times more

No one is stupid enough to fall for that crap....China now emits over 2X more CO2 than we do

...and all of that increase from them came after we knew what it did...and with the UN/IPCC's blessings

If you make going greener work better in every way, China would have to be stupid to not follow suit.

That's the point: If we run with Thorium Nuclear then you produce way more power for way less money than coal-fire plants and fossil fuel power sources. If China refuses to follow suit, they'll get left behind. Getting left behind again technologically is probably China's single biggest fear right now.

There are still things we have to sort out. The technology for commercial airlines to go green doesn't currently exist. Shooting rockets into space probably can't be done without a form of combustion propulsion. But we already know that transportation and electrical power can be moved onto green sources that are better in every way.

China is making all this green crap and selling it to us and the rest of the world.....and increasing their CO2 emissions the whole time they are making that crap

America is the #1 innovator in the world, we need to work together to get ourselves off fossil fuels and sell our technology to China. Pointing fingers solves nothing.

China is not to blame for the super heating james. One track minds i see here. I can beam China to another planet and the ramp up in heating will still take place at a rapid rate. There is not stopping the end that is to come for all of us. We have been here before many times but never had billions of peeps on the planet since the last event over 23000 years ago bros.

Oh, in many ways they're a lot smarter than us.

China and India are both building Thorium Molten Salt Reators right now. We're not. China is going to be way ahead of us if we don't pull our heads out and get to work.
India
China Invests Big in Clean and Cheap Energy from Thorium

The green energy that you have every right to criticize is Solar and Wind, which are inefficient, destroy vast swaths of natural habitat and farmland, kill endangered species of birds at an alarming rate, will produce a thousand times more highly toxic waste than nuclear over time, and only actually work if the sun is shining or the wind is blowing. You wanna call BS on wind and solar? I'm right there with you.

We kinda scam ourselves. We have an absolutely massive activist population who scream loudly, proudly, endlessly and ignorantly that, "Nuclear Energy is the devil!!!" China and India don't have that problem. So that leaves us Wind and Solar, which at best are just neat sounding ideas that failed to deliver reliable clean energy. At this point, wind and solar are a complete scam.
