Except Dems are addicted to power, which is why we have to clean up our elections and vote them all out.
Couple problems with this approach.
1) Elections already are clean. There's the gerrymandering, and the purging of voting rolls, and the attempts to make it difficult for some people to vote, and we certainly should do something about that, but there has been no credible evidence of any election fraud significant enough to make a difference
2) There are far more Democrats than there are Republicans. Demographics and disgust with Republicans is increasing this ratio.
3) Republicans have demonstrated no ability whatsoever to deal with Covid, the topic of this thread.

Disgust and mistrust of them all is one reason we're still dealing with Covid.
While China isn't, as they went door to door educating people a year and a half ago with handouts and such.
Neither the dumb Dems or Reps even considered this approach when the mess began.
All either administration have proven is; nobody is in charge.
The vaccine is the end goal. Anyone who doesn't want to get the vaccine is accepting the risk, and it's on them. I'm pretty sure we've had enough time for every adult in America to be vaccinated at this point, so it should now be over in the USA. Every country is different though.
Except there are too many "vaccine hesistant" people if not outright antivax today. Wish it wasn't the case, but it is.
Those who are at risk are getting the vaccine.
Over 70 Percent of Older U.S. Adults Are Fully Vaccinated ...https://www.nytimes.com › covid-vaccine-seniors
May 15, 2021 — More than 70 percent of Americans who are 65 or older are fully vaccinated, and 84 percent have received at least one dose, a much higher ...
This is as of May 15th.
Even if severe cases really are entirely among people with pre-existing conditions and the elderly, the virus still places too much of a strain on our healthcare system to simply let it go endemic. Since half the country won't accept a vaccine, what else do we do? Do we just stay locked down forever, as long as certain types of gatherings like churches aren't affected?
We create a series of incentives to vaccinate and penalties for not vaccinating that drive up vaccination rates.
Its really too bad part of the fiscal stimulus wasn't reserved for people who choose to vaccinate. I think tying the stimulus to vaccination would have dramatically increased vaccination rates.
There will be no herd immunity until kids are vaccinated also. The aim is to start getting them vaccinated sometime around winter. If kids get vaccinated, then enough people will be vaccinated and/or have gotten it to control it. But COVID will never end. It will always be around in some sense. If the immune systems adapt to it, it could become like the flu. Also I will be getting booster shots annually for life, as soon as booster shots become available. Enough people will probably do that too so that should help.
Good grief, this has been explained NUMEROUS times, herd immunity DOES NOT rely on vaccination!
