I been wearing a mask - still do. We all have been, but you have not met delta yet. It’s very easy to get it. You seem to think people want to get the virus. Some just don’t understand how easy it is, and DiSantis knows, but doesn’t care. Look at the stats. I know 2 ER nurses who been all over to help with covid. Tonight she said, it’s a waiting game now for my son, but the variant is really contagious and getting vaxed helps to not get so sick, but no guarantees. Fl is on fire, keep watching the numbers.
Sorry, but masks make almost no difference. The situation in Florida is fine, and - regardless - there is nothing DeSantis could possibly do. Get over it. Kids aren't in danger, and adults can get vaccinated if they're scared. I did.
Do you not understand that we have been in a pandemic for over a year and a half with no end in sight because many won't get the vaccine that would help end this. You are not being smart at all and thus, are part of the problem.
This sounds like a segment from the nightly news; turn off the TV. The media is the problem, not those who do their homework to determine whether or not the vaccine is right for them.

The situation in Florida is not fine, they just set a record for hospitalizations and masks most certainly slow down the transmission.
People can decide... that's how I read it. Most don't want to co-parent.
No, DeSantis issued a no mask mandate order.
Quote:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis hasn’t been shy about his opposition to school mask mandates, regardless of advice from the Centers for Disease Control and a leading national association of pediatricians. Unable to get a special legislative session to ban them, he issued an order Friday to have his administration financially penalize any school districts that impose a requirement.
At the time of his action, two of the state’s 67 districts had announced plans to require masks. DeSantis critics panned his proposal, based on the concept of protecting parental rights, as an overreach into local government responsibilities. • Palm Beach County school district lawyers are reviewing whether the governor has the authority to issue his edict, the Palm Beach Post reports.
Hopefully the governor will deploy the full resources of the state - including the National Guard - to bring recalcitrant local-jurisdictions to heel.
"Freedom" and "protection" are inapposite. To be free, means to accept danger.
It does not mean accepting danger for non-consenting persons, which you would spread the illness to if you got it and did not take precautions.
But I get it, some people are thinking only about themselves even when it comes to a highly contagious, dangerous airborne illness that spreads like chicken pox, But somehow you still think it is about your individual "right" to take extra risk on giving a virus to a vulnerable person.

So you must be educating yourself by reading medical journals. Which ones do you recommend?

Your statements are wrong. I hope not deliberately so, I hope it's just that you don't understand and haven't read the latest data.
*Masks DO make a difference. The amount of virus expelled in a breath of someone with the Delta variant of the virus has been found to be 100 times the amount of the original virus. If the sick person wore a mask he could stop infecting others.
*The situation in Florida is NOT fine. Children are now getting sick with the virus and many are now in intensive care.
Don't make silly statements when you have no idea what's going on here.

Well, if masks do make a difference and successfully block the Covid virus, then all you have to do is wear a mask and you'll be fully protected, right? Or are you saying that masks just filter the air one-way... that they block the virus from going out, but don't block it from coming in. How does that work???

Here's how it works: The COVID virus is very small. No mask will block it once it becomes aerosolized. However, before it becomes aerosolized, it's bound in bigger particles of your breath in vapor form as well as any sort of mucous that's expelled. Those particles are large and most masks, even cloth masks with a very tight weave, can stop a good amount of that. Not all of it of course, but noteworthy. Remember, viral load means a lot.
If that spit-rolled virus stays in your mask, it generally doesn't release in the air and get broken up by air currents, dry air, etc. to become aerasolized. Once aerosolized, the only help is N95 and goggles.
So, in that way masks do work to some degree, but the onus is the on the person who is infected versus the person who's not but is worried about it and wears the mask.
Without good mask compliance, yeah, masks don't really work.
