All of the numbers that I’ve read by peer reviewed studies shows an 80+% effective rate against the variant. It seems really strange to me that a corporation funded study all of the sudden shows half of that. On top of that, even the underlying study is showing much better results than this particular article is suggesting. I
Moderna appears to protect against Delta better than Pfizer. Though both are better than not being vaccinated. Before Delta, Moderna and Pfizer had similar efficacy but Moderna seems better against Delta. Also recent studies show antibodies in vaccinated people seem to stay stronger with Moderna over Pfizer over a 6 month period.
I saw one article from the past few days that suggested Moderna boosters for people already vaccinated with both Pfizer and Moderna, for strong Delta and future variant protection. The Moderna booster is apparently only a half dose of the original.
Per OP's link:
Moderna was 76% effective against Delta
Pfizer was 42% effective against Delta
The study found similar results in other states. For example, in Florida, the risk of infection in July for people fully vaccinated with Moderna was about 60% lower than for people fully vaccinated with Pfizer.
My daughter who treats covids says that most of the vaccinated people who are getting oxygen (none are critical) had the Moderna or J&J. They have not had any Pfizers. Sample size is very small though so it's more anecdotal than anything.
I think all the vaccines are going to have their pros- and cons-. Overall, it's just good if you have a full dose of any of them.

At this point, nobody knows what the answers are, or how the virus will nutate in the future.
But one thing for sure.
The clamoring for a "quick and easy" fix by a segment of the popualtion that spends too much time in front of the boob-tube, and the short-sight of their politician-idols didn't do anything to help!
True human progress just doesn't work that way.

Ok, that's you. But what about those of us who care about transmission and the risk of long-haul COVID? At this point I really would like to have a third dose.
Tomorrow FDA approves #3 for those immune-suppressed. Most likely including my wife, post-stem cell transplant.
Pfizer vaccine was only 42% effective against the Delta variant
A new preprint study that raises concerns about the mRNA vaccines' effectiveness against Delta — particularly Pfizer's — has already grabbed the attention of top Biden administration officials.
What they're saying: The study found the Pfizer vaccine was only 42% effective against infection in July, when the Delta variant was dominant. "If that's not a wakeup call, I don't know what is," a senior Biden official told Axios.
Glad you didn't die from it like many of those who were unvaccinated did.
From the get go it's never been more than +- 1% death rate so I was never worried. But then, I'm not obese or a smoker so there's that.
The second vaccine shot, on the other hand, whacked me good. I developed both a viral infection and a bacterial infection. I was covered in lesions and became very lethargic for 2 months. Then I had bronchitis and the bacterial infection created these nice big cracks on the bottom of my feet.
I was kicking myself for getting the vaccine after already having covid.

Why didn’t you add in what it says about the Moderna vaccine? It’s much better.
