Spanish-speaking people are mostly an immigrant underclass in the United States. Mainstream America almost entirely speaks English.

That is why I don't see Spanish overtaking English anytime soon in this country.

Dman near every Hispanic person under 20 can speak Spanish. I’ve heard Miami is different but I’ve still yet to meet someone born here who isn’t in some weird dual citizen situation that doesn’t speak English.

The only places you can find more English Speakers than Spanish speakers are the 90%+ Hispanic counties on the border and in most of them 80%+ of the population also say they speak English.

IMO it is highly unlikely that English could be replaced by Spanish in a thousand years in the United States. Anglo culture and language are at the foundation of this country and it would take a whole lot more immigrants to change that...way more than what is arriving anyway. Supplanting anglophone culture in the United States would require a massive invasion followed by our invaders wiping us out. What the European settlers did in the New World to the Indian cultures is the best example of what this looks like. The Anglo Saxon invasion of Britain is another. These are truly major historical events. Nothing like that appears to be happening to our nation.

Having said that it is also true that Spanish language and culture have been a significant minority ever since we acquired Texas and the Southwest. The day we concluded the Mexican war our nation automatically became a partially Hispanic country. Our Hispanic leanings in the US are similar to the Francophone leanings of our Canadian neighbors up north. They have embraced this reality about their country. It would do us well to embrace our minority culture as well. At this point our Hispanic minority is as much part of American culture as baseball and apple pie. If one examines our culture you will find countless Spanish words intruding into American English, the food influences are nothing short of massive, influences in music. Just something to think about next time your sitting at that Mexican restaurant celebrating Cinco de Mayo while drinking a cold Modelo.

Doubt it will be anytime soon, if ever. But then, no place remains the same forever.

What happens when a species breed like rabbits and then run to the land of handouts to keep breeding... The elites want less carbon emissions and lower population but they also need more labor and a higher reproduction rate and they are stuck between a rock and hard place.

Please. Like 20 years ago home improvement stores were placing bilingual signs everywhere. But I think proper pronoun use is the topic of the current time and place. With that said, Spanish is quite a patriarchal language which is why they are starting to change it to “Latinx” to avoid offending 13 year old white girls everywhere, and 40-something castrated males.

Even Spain is only 75% Spanish-speaking, defining "Spanish" as the Catillian spoken in the US.

Spanish is spoken by less than the majority in South America

We need to let people that arent willing to learn English fail on their own instead of accommodating them. We shouldnt have to press "1" for English...if you dont know English your out of luck. Enabling people allows them to continue doing what they are doing without reason for change. If there is a chance that the majority of America is to become a Spanish speaking country, we are the ones that allowed it to happen.
