Wish he did not hit term limits. His successors were never nearly as solid at their jobs.
I don't really have a party even though I am a registered republican so I can vote in primaries etc but

Tulsi Gabbard
Mike Gravel
Dennis Kucinich
Jesse Ventura
Bernie Sanders

I like MANY of their views, mostly anti war, anti establishment and a lot of their economic views.

The late Senators Mike Mansfield (D-MT) and Henry "Scoop" Jackson (D-WA) -- two who didn't waste words, and got down to business. Never beat the drum of partisanship or demonized the opposition, or made impossible "promises" to a gaggle of overgrown children.

JFK. "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Sadly with todays youth, these words do not compute!

For some back then, the "ask not what your country can do for you" speech didn't register at all.

I'd like to send a thank-you to just about everyone who posted in this thread; It's refreshing and reassuring to see that not all of us are dim-bulbs concerned only with next week's quota of "bread and circuses".
