47% Asian and 38% Hispanic. Whites and Blacks make up the rest of the student body. There are likely many Chinese students there, but how many of them don't speak English? 16% of the whole of the student body is has limited English proficiency. I don't think it's really just a limited English issue.
No, those seem to be the demographics of the area. The school demographics are:
The demographic breakdown for the school is as follows: 51% Hispanic/Latino, 43% Asian, 2% White, 1% African American and 2% Two or more races.
There is a large Asian population in SGV. However, someone blaming failing grades on Asians, I spit out my coffee when I heard that. Considering that only 16% of that particular school's students are limited in their English speaking abilities, I have a sneaking suspicion most of the Asians in Alhambra High can speak English.
Don't worry, Biden promised that people just like these students will receive unionized green energy jobs that pay $45/hour. You know, because young people who cry when confronted with a challenge as daunting as making change will undoubtedly be the best fit for government-subsidized wind farms... or something.
What do you think is causing these failing grades?
Honestly, right now it is largely the pandemic. As the article points out, we’re seeing this problem across the country right now. Even where I work, we’ve had kids disappear, kids just stop coming to school altogether, kids showing up but getting all Ds and Fs who previously never had either. Its been a rough two years for everyone, and these school problems are likely a result of the difficulty of the last two years. These are, after all, just kids, who likely don’t have the skills or experience on how to deal with a pandemic. The adults are struggling, it's no surprise the kids are too. We (the mental health professionals) knew it was going to be rough this year as students returned to school after nearly two years off. It has honestly been so much worse than we expected. I’m exhausted, and i dont see an end in sight yet. I’ve never been so happy for thanksgiving break.
That supposition is racialist, capitalist, colonialist, and imperialist!

What will they do there? Make paper airplanes or windmills?
