I never knew Negro was objectionable, just that it was dated. In that case I don't think it should be used by a liberal or anyone else then.

I don't see the issue... He's referring to Satchel Paige as a great pitcher who pitched in the "negro leagues". That is indeed what the league was called before being merged with MLB.

You are not allowed to purposely choose to use Negro instead of Black or African American. However when old people revert to Negro or colored with no malicious intent it is just age showing
in this case, it's just his stutter and dementia catching up to him. He was trying to spit out "Negro League pitcher", though of course in his continued horrible extemporaneous speaking ability, he later said "the pros" before correcting to "the major leagues".
