Just taking one LV bag and you’re over the $1000 limit. In Oklahoma you can bet they’d prosecute, in San Francisco not so much.
I doubt there is any LV stores in Oklahoma. I do notice law enforcement keep saying employees and security guards should not stop them. If you look at videos from Walmart, and Target they have loss prevention security that goes hands on and catch most of shop lifters.
You would think as much as LV cost they would have more security in their stores. High end jewelry stores usually have armed guards.
Then why don't the criminals steal more competitively priced products?
Criminals covet the LV brand because their items have easy to read logos. Higher end products don't have such visible features that make them easy to recognize in public. People that own them can recognize them in public.
LV is obviously overpriced and they make a huge margin on each sale - most of their products don’t get sold, and they then sell their unsold items to discount outlets and finally the rights to some designs to low cost designers like Zara.
What you just did however was excuse criminality.
You will NEVER find authentic LV goods at a reseller. They can only be purchased at their boutiques. You will NEVER see them "on sale" either.
I tried to google Louis Vuitton cost vs. purchase price, and couldn't find it. It CERTAINLY seems like they have at least 500% mark up. There is no reason to charge the price they do for comparable leather goods, that you can source elsewhere for very little cost.
So maybe the management at Louis Vuitton figures, sit there and watch the merchandise leave the room by theft, if you get a few paying customers here and there, you'll still make an outrageous profit?
This sure sounds like you are condoning theft by painting the thieves as victims of capitalism.

Just go to an Outlet mall.
At an outlet mall you’ll get authentic products about 20% off.
They have internal sales (for employees, their friends, people in the know etc - invitation only) where you can buy products from 50-80% off at their boutique locations. Though there is a limit (I think 5 items) per invite.
A number of years ago on a cruise that stopped in Ocho Rios Jamaica. Took a cab to a nearby mall that was surrounded by a tall fence/wall. Had to be let in by a guard. The cab waited for us to get done then took us back to our ship. Made the whole experience safe if a little sterile.
Certainly can see that being the norm here soon.
