You leftists can try to put lipstick on the pig as much as you like, but those who know history needn't look any farther than the hundreds of millions of people who have been slaughtered in the name of "communism" to see what it is. It doesn't work. Period. Unless of course you think a police state is a good thing.
Your philosophical mumbo-jumbo version of what "communism" is will NOT work in practice. It has been tried for hundreds of years and ends badly EVERY time. Yet, you folks are dull enough to claim... "Oh, but it will work this time."

No, Biden did not stop drilling. He paused leases for a while, but there was a lease auction within the past month. I do hope that Biden revises some of the rules on Federal leases, like increasing the royalty to the 25% that most private landowners get these days - why should the government get a lower royalty? I also support requiring higher bonds for plugging liabilities - there's no reason that a well should be sold from one party to another to another, and the last one declares bankruptcy to get out of plugging a well.
And no, stopping drilling on new Federal leases would not cause gas prices to go up. Oil companies have at least 7,000 drilling locations identified on existing Federal leases that are not subject to any moratoriums.
You can't win on this topic, this is what I do for a living.
Gas prices have gone up because OPEC isn't increasing production, nor are the Russians. US oil companies production levels are lower because the weak, stupid companies that were drilling uneconomic wells have gone bankrupt and aren't drilling now. Companies still in the oil business are not going for marginal barrels that are not economic, since their shareholders want higher returns and debt reduction.

The standard dodge that since we don't meet the EXACT dictionary definition of socialism (or its kissing cousin communism) then we aren't exactly heading for socialism, are irrelevant. Government is taking over the control of more and more of our lives, and deciding for us how much each person will get as it taxes people who earn more, more heavily, and subsidizes people who earn less or none. The attitude that govt is justified in taking more from us to redistribute to others, is all the socialism we need.
We haven't dotted every I and crossed every T present in the dictionary definition, but we are definitely heading that way. And doing what socialistic societies always wind up doing. Whether their advocates intended to do it or not.
But the USA is not becoming a socialistic state. Instead, it is a matter of fact already one from having Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, and section 8 housing for starters. So, don't you want your Social Security and Medicare ended to start ending socialism in this country?

What mandate? Social Security and Medicare both came about by the standard process. They were passed by both houses of Congress and signed by the President. Just like any other law. They were opposed by many at the time they were passed.

You see the world in total terms of good guys vs bad guys. And your team are the good guys.
Do you realize many of the bad guys own stock in oil companies and work for oil companies? Some of those socialist unions you decry are the people who bring you gasoline. They make their living in the oil patch.
I'll give you another view. Part of the cause of the price increase is demand.IDK where you live but 1/3 of the vehicles I see on the road are big picks up the are bought by choice not need. How many MPG do they get when running 80 MPH? Many drivers are their own worst enemy due to the way they drive.
And another thing. How much water does fracking require? Where does the used water go? How many people buy bottled water? How much petroleum product is used in bottling and delivering that water? How is the bottle water different from filtered water from one's own faucet? What happens to the used bottles?
