NO, we were not energy independent. We still imported oil from Canada, Russia, and Mexico, and exported oil to other countries. And, that production volume was not sustainable, since some of it was utterly uneconomic.

I'll ask again, what has Biden done to stop oil production. Keep in mind that Keystone XL would have taken 3 years to build, so it's cancellation did nothing to supply availability. The pipeline in Michigan is still operating.
