An overwhelming number of Americans do not speak Spanish, so how is his predominantly English speaking audience suppose to keep up?
Seriously!
One of my favorite sub warfare movies is "Das Boot", and is considered in the top 3 of all time. However if it did not have English subtitles, I wouldn't have understood most of the movie.
I guess Spielberg has been infected with PC wokeness, and the fact he said he might have Indiana Jones be a woman in the next movie, was not some absurd joke.

It comes down to the performance to convey. Stuff like the opening of UP, where there wasn't any dialogue but you still got it. I wonder if that's the angle he is going for.
I have no idea, but considering todays youth lack of attention span, how many will really make the effort to do so.
Frankly I and my family use to enjoy the movies, to have a momentary escape and relax. Of course that becomes more difficult when you do not understand what is going on.
I am not a fan of Avatar, but if the movie was in a foreign language without subtitles, would it have been as popular?

There's a place for us, sung in Spanish... If they are speaking Spanish , they will be singing in Spanish. A woke movie . Next we will be listening to Russian and Chinese woke movies .
My girlfriend wanted to go see this. I just showed her what Spielberg said. Now she has decided she has no desire to see it. There's two tickets unsold by wokeness.
Next thing you know, some people will say that speaking "traditional" English (as opposed to Ebonics or some other language) in public is a sure sign that the speaker is a racist. I'm serious, btw -- a few years ago, I remember seeing a post that said that a shop specializing in British goods was racist and that all U.S. libraries were racist because the vast majority of books were in English and written by English-speaking authors.
Difference? The Spaniards and Portuguese did not bring women with them, so if they wanted to get it on, it was with indigenous or Africans. Unfortunately in the beginning, it was mostly done via rape.
Exactly why I find the Spanish language so offensive
