https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...eek/ar-AARzDfT ( rogressives in Congress are lining up behind a bill that would shrink a regular week of work from 40 hours to 32 — bringing the four-day work week to America.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus just endorsed the aptly named "32-Hour Workweek Act," according to a statement from Rep. Mark Takano, the Democrat representing California's 41st district. The caucus, comprised of nearly 100 legislators, is a key progressive voice and has made its power known during recent infrastructure negotiations) MY OP what a bunch of morons )
As a cheapskate minimalist I have to say that would be sweet, but it would exacerbate the labor shortage. 4 shift rotation shifts like mine depend on 4 people each working 42 hours a week to take care of the 168 hours that encompass a week. Either we would have built in overtime or have to have a 5th crew of people.
I have to admit I'd enjoy that....but it's not practical either... They could just ban compulsory overtime instead. I'd be happy as hell if I only ever had to work my scheduled hours and that's it... Perhaps not very practical either.
It was the boomers choice to work 60 hours a week. Part of the reason we are falling behind is my generation and younger don't want to do it anymore. In Europe they work less less and play less...I don't need a motorhome, boat, 4 cars, etc...

I try to do four 10 hour days with my business. Im spending less time with employee getting setup/packing up. They get another day to do their stuff.

Can you PP's share your reasons for thinking it's a bad idea? I'm genuinely curious.

This. Not many of us can afford that kind of a pay cut. The 4 day work week is already here at my employer and many others, with 4 days working 10 hours. No cut in pay. People can already work 32 hours a week . . it's called part-time.
