Yeah, its an odd narrative that some are trying to push that "Lefties" all fell for it, when I recall his story stank so bad that it was met with mostly skepticism all around.
That may be true for "Lefties" in the general public, but Leftists in politics and the media were completely taken in by it. And they have a lot of influence. We all saw the statements from Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Warren etc, etc, etc. Along with all the Leftist political analysts, talk show hosts and their guests.
Yesterday I saw the earlier video clip posted of that woman from "The View" or whatever it was, saying she was appalled that anyone questioned Smollett's claims. And they all agreed with her. They didn't doubt him, not one bit.
While it might possibly be their MO, the end result is that it appears to allthat they are shockingly stupid for believing such absurdities. Is extreme incompetence really the capability they want to present on their own behalf?
They only appear incompetent/shockingly stupid by people who have some common sense and are intelligent. Half the country will see them as advocating for justice no matter the outcome because “Equity.” They do it on purpose for their base of warriors. Never trust the police or justice system when they get the wrong outcome.
Awesome! This makes three recent verdicts that went the way I wanted them to go. Fist was the Rittenhouse acquittal and then the Arbery murder verdicts and now Smutt's guilty verdict. I need to go out today and buy a lottery ticket!

I don’t think they fell for much as they went with it because it was politically expedient to do so. It furthered the narrative they wanted.
