If you think an average gas price in the state of $4.73 is almost there, then sure, you're right. And over 70% of cars use the regular unleaded (only 11% use premium). Just thought I'd point that out before you use your disingenuous talking point.
I only drove fast cars that used Prem bra. Well over 5 a gal pal there and if a gnat farts it's gonna go to the moon june.
With the 36 gallon tank in my F150 5.0 V8, that would be $270 to fill it if empty. Oh well, since working from home for the last two years I have saved more than enough to make up for that, especially since I'll be hybrid and only commute 3 days. I feel sorry though, for all of those that have to commute 5 days for lower wage jobs that can't afford an EV. I wonder who they will vote for in 2024?
I've got one of those too which my wife drives, but fortunately are on hybrid WFH and the office and the office is close. Only drive it on weekends for "truck things." Otherwise we take my old Honda, which isn't the best by modern standards but still does 10 mpg better than the truck.
I do sympathize with those that commute and only have one vehicle with poor fuel economy. The elites actually want them to feel pain. The good news is that small cars are still quite unloved and are readily available for them to buy.

Yeah, some great deals will be had. Years ago, when gas was $4 plus a gallon in my area, we snagged a sweet Ford Excursion with a V10 for a great price. That was a great truck.
Filled up yesterday for $3.20 but sure I think if we wait long enough (might be 20 years) we could see $7 gas.
Was thinking the same thing, but let the kids have their fun with their nonsensical conjecture, and bogus, cherry picked examples that don't apply to the masses.
This is the United States of America, so the Michigan Governor must weigh the energy & job needs of Michigan, with those of other states.
Does Liberal Governor Whitmer of Michigan only care about herself? Where's her compassion?
The auto industry in Michigan has caused more greenhouses gas emmissions and harm to Mother Earth than 1 pipeline could cause in a Thousand years. Michigan couldn't care less about the environment. I lived along the Rouge River, so I saw & smelled Michigan's toxic waste regularly.
Michigan has 67 Superfund toxic sites, and has only cleaned up 17 of them....why?
$7/gallon gas is coming and all Whitmer cares about is her own political agenda...not consumers who cant afford $7/gal fuel, and not Michigans environment. Heck, she own a boat that gets 1 mile per gallon!
Total hypocrite that dictates rules to the small people to follow, but not for her own selfish azz to follow.
Detroit is no linger "motor city"!
