Conservatives Start 'Farenheit 451' in More than Schools
In addition to DeSantis making waves as he tries to make a culture run for the White House, conservatives elsewhere are trying to remove books from the shelves of public libraries. In Texas it has been seen that
Quote:
"the outsize influence a small but vocal group of conservative Christian and tea party activists wielded over the county commissioners to reshape the library system to their own ideals."
A local judge came in and physically removed books from shelves. Has he heard of the First Amendment? It is notable that the library protesters stacked the new library board, closed meetings to the public and named the chief protester the vice chair of a new library board
Quote:
"stacked with conservative appointees — some of whom did not even have library cards."
Doesn't Texas have an open meetings law? These folks are setting themselves up to pay legal fees to the ACLU.
Its not just Tesas, either. The above-cited article notes:
Quote:
Conservative activists in several states, including Texas, Montana and Louisiana have joined forces with like-minded officials to dissolve libraries’ governing bodies, rewrite or delete censorship protections, and remove books outside of official challenge procedures.
I wonder who will supply the matches for the book burning parties?
Teaching blatantly racist against white content and then denying it and arguing semantics like what exactly CRT is.
Teaching sexually inappropriate material to 5 through 9 year olds and then pretending parents don't get a say.
In Fahrenheit 451, it is banned from society. Is DeSantis saying it can't exist in society, or we shouldn't degenerate schools? Leftists throwing out original curriculum for teaching kids racist victimhood mumbo-jumbo is liberating, bringing back nonracist teachings is oppressive?

Come on! These are BOOKS ON THE SHELVES. As Wanda Sykes stated: 'Folks who are against same sex marriage shouldn't engage in it.'
Did you read the article? The county stopped electronic borrowing of books. This was to try to have control on kids but

which also cut off access to the elderly, people with disabilities or those otherwise unable to visit a physical library.
Those folks have gone nuts.

And conservatives are readying the book bonfires. By the way, conservatives in TX previously sought to ban "Farenheit 451" because "the novel went against the complainants’ “religious beliefs.”"

Sexually explicit books showing sex scenes in images shouldn't be on school shelves.
You are conflating public school standards with a nationwide dystopian novel.

Conservatives want to be told what to do and think and not allow others freedom of thought and action.
I can say the same about the left on the same topics.
Which side is wetting their pants because Elon Musk wants free speech on Twitter?

I’d like to see some examples of the “references to Critical Race Theory (CRT), inclusions of Common Core, and the unsolicited addition of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in mathematics” textbooks.
